Help Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi guys I just bought a new Galaxy Note II White last Saturday..and I purchased the 16GB with free 16GB SD Card [Total of 32GB] but when I checked my phone's storage it says that my phone only has 10GB of total space and my SD Card only has 14GB [Total of 24GB] I just wanna ask if there is something wrong with my phone and it's their mistake or maybe something else? Thanks in advnace, another silly question..how will I know if my Galaxy Note II is 3G? ^^

When I first got mine noticed that also I think a lot is taken up with the operating system and other bits and pieces but someone may give an actual breakdown of what they all use

You are exactly right. The OS and bloat ware (ATT) apps are all taking up that 16GB advertised. Then, both the SD card and internal memory, use a significant amount of space to format the partitions where the data goes.
Think of it this way. You have a empty file cabinet. It's 16GB in size. However you cannot throw stuff into the file cabinet, you need to organize the empty draw by putting dividers and a file system in it. That file system, even when empty, takes up space. Maybe 1-2gb just for the file system. Then fill those files with the OS and bloat, bam, no more 16gb.
