Samsung Galaxy Note III - Flashlight App

Lurker
I just got my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and am unable to get any flashlight app to work with it. Is anyone else having this problem, and, if so, how were you able to get the flashlight to work?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions and for helping me to resolve this.

My N3 came with a widget called Assistive Light, which looks like an app icon, when you add it to your home screen and tap it, the light comes on and the icon turns green. Tap it again, light off.

Thank you for your response.

I did load TeslaLED onto my Note 3 and it loaded well.

Question: on my Galaxy 3 my flashlight app lit up the back of my phone with a light. Is there any Note 3 app which will do the same?

Again, thank you.

Lit up the back? I'm not sure if I understand this. The TeslaLED will turn on the LED flash on the back of your phone. Do you mean the old school torch trick of using your main screen as a light?

If TeslaLED isn't turning it on and it doesn't come on when you turn the flash on in the camera app, then your LED is borked and you should exchange it while you can.

I use TeslaLED w/ Nova Launcher Prime and set it up so I tap twice on the screen to turn it on and tap twice again to turn it off.

My LED Flash is not coming on... sigh. It's there any way to troubleshoot or test?

This is one of 2 things:

1) User error (not using the TeslaLED app correctly)

2) Something wrong with the LED's

Easiest way to test is to turn the Flash on, for your camera, and take a picture. If the LED's turn on, then there's something you're not doing that will actually make TeslaLED work.

I use both TeslaLED, as well as a Notification shortcut using Widgetsoid (which uses the built in phone capabilities to activate the LED's as a flashlight). Both work without any issues.

I read somewhere that rebooting it will make it work. I have Flashlight on mine and after a reboot it worked fine. Go figure.

TMONEY,

I downloaded a flashlight app and used it once and it worked - turned on the LED. Tried it again and nothing. Then I noticed my flash was not working on the camera. Basically, nothing would turn my LED light no. I uninstalled all flashlight apps and rebooted.

Camera worked again. I then found the Assistive Light widget and it has been working perfectly ever since. I use this app a lot.

Makes me miss the ROM I had on my GNex....you could hold down the power button + volume up and it would switch the light on. I used that feature A LOT!
