Help Samsung Galaxy S Calendar App doesn't show current date

Newbie
had asked a same question in Galaxy S forum, but no answers, so asking it here since its a AT&T phone. hope to get an answer.

i got the Samsung Samsung Galaxy S (Captivate) a week back.
had an iphone earlier and the calendar app/icon on iphone always shows the current date. my Samsung Galaxy S Calendar App doesn't show current date. it always shows jan 25. is there a setting for the calendar app icon to show current date.

thanks

I don't believe that the Android Calendar app icon has that functionality, but there may be a widget that you can find in the Market that will provide the current date in an icon and provides you with a shortcut to the Calendar.

I use the Fancy Widget from the Market and it has three customizable shortcuts in it while providing the time, temperature, and date.

Seems odd, my standard stock calendar app opens to the current date. I never set anything, just have the phone on the correct date/time.

It does open to show current date. what i wanted was the app icon on the home screen to show current date as in iphone (and not 25 jan). i think thats not possible with android.

Ah, sorry, I didn't get that. I would agree, it doesn't seem to be something you can change, looks like a static image. Best bet is probably an app that has a tiny date featured. (Of course, tapping upper left on the notification bar shows the date, and I also use Beautiful Widgets which displays the current date/time, and pressed on will open the same stock calendar app.)

That would require a 1x1 widget that could then be set to launch a given calendar app. This is rather different internally than a standard app icon, which is static.

Go hunting for 1x1 calendar widgets and maybe you'll find what you're looking for.
