Help Samsung Galaxy S II email is slow

Hi all,

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S II about two weeks ago and have been very impressed and disappointed with it. I am on AT&T in the Philadelphia area and am not sure if this is the problem or not.

The internet is usually very fast and has no problems but when I open email up and press refresh, it takes up to 15 to 30 seconds to refresh. I took it to the Radio Shack where I purchased it and the guy there said to just take out the battery when it is running slow and I have done this to no avail.

My Dad has the Droid Bionic with Verizon and it has had no problems and is also significantly faster that than my Galaxy S II. Does anyone have any tips or know why this may be happening with email because I am considering taking it back, switching to Verizon and getting the Bionic.

What is strange is that the GMail app itself loads the mail very fast while the mail app that the phone came with is the one that takes the long time to load. I like to use the mail app that the phone came with so does anyone have any tips for how to make that one load messages faster?

The built in email client isn't very good. I use Yahoo mail and downloaded and use the Yahoo Mail app instead of the built in email.

(..me thinks this should be moved to the appropriate area though...)
 
At least the Yahoo email app works fast for you... The Gmail app works just as slow for me as the built in email client(I'm on AT&T in CA). I just realized that my Gmail account in the Samsung email client was not working for the past couple days and I had not been receiving any emails because it was frozen stuck refreshing. So I had to delete it, and add it again using social hub. Hopefully it doesn't freeze again...
 
if we're on the topic of email apps, i'm using the free version of maildroid. I find that one to be the much better and faster than the stock email app. ALthough I never had problems with gmail app.
 
i hate the standard mail app

when i had my cappy i used k-9
when i got this one, i said "i don't remember why i switched... let's try the stock one"

2 days later, k-9 was installed on my device =)
