Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

Has anyone able to use BSNL Live and BSNL Mobile TV on u r galaxy S ? If yes let me know how to use these services. I do have a BSNL 3G prepaid connection and I have configured all the required APNs but cannot seem to get it work. Thanks in advance

new user, first post. have had the SGS for about two weeks now. a couple of questions/observations: 1) i am on linux (slackware) so i guess i won't be able to use kies which is, again i guess, windows only? 2) any idea when the froyo update will be made available here? will it be OTA or through kies and if it's the latter what would be the options for non-windows users? TIA for your responses...

coming from a nokia e71 and initial impressions seem nice enough. applied the one click lag fix but one still gets the lag now and then... and i think it is quite appalling that one can't do simple things like change font size in the gmail app... or did i miss something? :)

yes, it's windows-only. can't use on linux. however, many firmwares are made into a zip package which can be installed on the phone without a computer.

end of september, through kies. but a zip package will come out sooner enough on one of the forums. keep an eye out on this thread :)

yes, the lag still stays but is much better than stock.

no, you can't change the font size in applications. there are different fonts and you can install yourself too, though.

Hey guys, is there any app available to broadcast the media player as an FM frequency that could be picked up by your car's radio, like a frequency modulator. Kind of a software version of the iTrip.

AFAIK this is not possible with an app, u need the hardware to do the broadcasting which I think is not available on the phone (I think it only has a receiver). But you get those broadcasters for cheap in any electronic shop which will work with any music player which has a 3.5 mm jack.

forgot unlock pattern for galaxy s. After failing the pattern too many times and click the button, it will tell you to login with your Google account to unlock it. It is also not working. Tried reseting the phone while booting. Searched many forums no solutions yet...

did anyone else faced the problem...i do not want to go to samsung care in india

i think you will have to go there but have you tried doing a data + cache reset from recovery?

ps:if you are not familiar with using adb and recovery, familiarise yourself first!
 
I'm yet to have a galaxy but a friend of mine have it. After using it for 1 hour I think the reason behind poor battery performance can be constant sync with gmail.
can we have sync settings on Galaxy?
Or do we have outlook type app?

I'm now on JM8 with tayutama rom. I still experience a few lag especially when the ram is low.

I know why my previous attempt to install custom rom resulted is forced closes (acore process, tw launcher etc). I have to clear cache and user data in the recovery mode first before installing a new firmware.

Buddy for me the best was JPJG8. I havnt tried JH1. I will wait for official froyo now.just two weeks. I hope sammy releases froyo in india together with europe.
BTW samsung has updated the task manager just like the one we get in froyo releases. Si i think that sammy is getting ready to release froyo in coming days.;)
 
can anybody plz tell me where i can get the official samsung vehicle dock in india i though tried to get it from a couple of websites from uk like mobilefun.uk and handtec but the cost of shipment to india is equal to the cost of vehicle dock that comes out to an exhorbitant near about 5000 rs hope this is the right thread to post this
