Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

if you want to acess the paid markets from India, just buy a US sim from e bay come at around rs1000/- and from your computer set up the google market, then insert the new sim , do not even bother to activate use appbrain to download

Or if you want to do it for free then just root your phone and use market enabler.

^Cool..will do.

Edit:Turns out I just needed to push the earphones in real hard while the SE earphones went in without too much effort. Now they are working absolutely fine:o

First problems already, I think my bundled earphones are kaput. They have wierd background warbly noise and are missing half the frequencies. I checked my SE W810i earphones with the phone and they are working perfectly. Do aftermarket earphones work as FM receivers with the Galaxy S?

Yes they will work.

Guys did anyone tried tayutama's JM7 Modded ROM? I just flashed it. It looks awesome.
I think i will keep it untill the official froyo update.

im downloading it rt now..sum how my performance with one click lag fix 2.3 isnt dat grt...gallery opens very slowly nd so does the dialer..

using mybackup pro...is titanium better???
oh nd market is showing paid apps all of a sudden..currently on ddjg4

Titanium backup is better. It can restores your playlist, contacts and many settings. @mamababu has given some instructions to use it. Its a good app.

NICKPORWAL is ur market working now???
u had postd on xda dat it aint....

Yup its working now. Everything is working fine now. I reflashed the ROM.

1. First flash stock JM7 (remember to remove sim card and external sd card)
2. After successfull flash let the phone reboot. once up select english language in settings.
3. Then also setup wi-fi and check if you are able to download any app from the market. Put the tayatuma's update.zip on the internal sd card. You will get the instructions from the thread.
4. then shutdown the phone. Do a factory reset and wipe cache from the recovery.
5. then apply the update.zip from the recovery. Thats it. Phone will reboot and you are done.
6. just check once more if market is working fine (download ant small app).

its a very good ROM. So far i have installed 80 apps. I am without any lagfix and ths ROM is working great. Its fairly faster than current available eclair ROMs.

This is the Indian thread and no one is making a fuss about the lack of support for Indian languages?

It's at the rock bottom of the issues list that google is trying to resolve.
Issue 3029 - android - support for Indian Regional Languages..... - Project Hosting on Google Code

You can help by clicking the star in this topic. The more the stars the better.
Basically, an issue at the top of the list (Issues - android - Project Hosting on Google Code) would be given higher priority because it affects a greater number of people who would otherwise make a fuss about it ;).

And there is also Issue 1618, which is a bit older with more votes. Needless to say that google did nothing for us over the few years since the issue was initially brought up.
This lack of support it very puzzling. The iphone could display devnagri, albeit not all characters ("joined" ones especially) but it was still readable.
Issue 1618 - android - Feature request: support Hindi characters in the droid fonts - Project Hosting on Google Code

-JaiHind!

To those who have already ROOTED their phones-

Can we take the brightness even lower than "10" after rooting which is current lowest default for android?

Regards

Star'ed that for you. Same with paid apps just for 14 countries (officially, that is).

Is anyone going to make an Indian ROM just for this? :)
