quick-tell me wich 1 to buy-galaxy s or desire.this phone must last at least 4 years(as am a 16 yr old who wont get a new phone for 4 years till i start earning :) ) i want regular updates for my android-incl. froyo,gingerbread etc.

sorry. But if you want updates for some of the next versions of android. Go and get google's flagship device "Nexus One". Nexus one is the only phone which got froyo first and will get gingerbread first. ;)

Google's phone like Nexus One will always get the updates first followed by others. Samsung has history of neglecting firmware updates in their phones.

Fortunately, there's already rooting process available, which means you can also update SGS to the latest android version.

If you can't wait to get the latest one, get Nexus One.
If you can wait, get the SGS for its superior and beautiful super AMOLED screen

try Palringo its multi protocol messenger, and post some pics of your phone, lock screen with missed call and new sms etc, alarm etc :)
 
guys I am an owner of WM 6.1 , Omnia 2, I want to know how do I transfer my existing contacts and sms from WM 6.1 phone to android phone (GS :) )

any one who bought GS and did this can share their experience

Are you able to export your contact in CSV format from WM 6.1?

I don't know about exporting pictures with contacts.. But android is giving facility to import contacts from your gmail account and you'll get their aavtaar as your contact pictures.. That may help..
 
guys, can any one post pictures of your box, I somehow got a dealer in pune who has this available but I need to confirm the specifications...
 
hey thanks for the info. but man r u sure its not the samsung i 7500 , the older version ? cause I've tried almost all shops N i cant find the phone anywhere.
 
try calling that guy and ask the info...the stocks are not available or getting delayed in many locations so you are not finding it in many places for now...but you can check with this guy...

anybody tried syncing the outlook contacts to galaxy? I have tons of contacts on outlook and i just cannot sync properly. Using Kies, i cannot choose the folder in contacts in outlook that i want to sync and when it syncs, i dont get half the data :( I tried copying outlook data into a CSV file and then importing into galaxy, but again it doesnt copy everything.
Galaxy also doesnt seem to be playing MPG4 videos!! Do i need a separate codec or player?
I am also having problems connecting the exchange server at work, tried everything, now working with my Network guys in office to take their help!! Anybody else has done this already?
