Thanks for info ! Doesn't wifi automatically switches off when not in use. I had switched off my AP (bsnl wifi modem) y'day night. I thought that no need to switch off wifi in phone specifically. Is it not so ?

Dont use ur live wallpapers, Reduce screen brightness, Turn off automatic Sync, Turn off Data usage (use any widget for this from market),check if u get proper signals wherever u live coz sometimes phone uses extra battery power to keep the signals up.install systempanel app from market and end any unnecessary app(as kalpik has said)
 
just installed JP3. Its indeed a faster than JP2.just one main concern, External sd card is read only in mass storage mode.

Create a new APN and put these values:
Name: Vodafone Live (or anything u like)
APN: portalnmms
Proxy: 10.10.1.100
Port: 9401
Username: N/A
Password: N/A
Server: http://live.vodafone.in
MMSC: N/A
MMS proxy: N/A
MMS port: N/A
MCC: N/A
MNC: N/A
Authentication type: N/A
APN type: N/A

You can browse through this settings..can download also...but can't say about signing in to Google account....I couldn't :(

Kalpik I flashed JP3 after u voted yesterday....it's really nice...fast, stable, good feature to keep APN off, Sweeping Unlock is more responsive than JM2..:)
But when sending 30/35 JPG files (each within 150kb) bluetooth is getting frozen...every time I had to restart the phone. No problem when sending that all through a compressed file. This problem was not in JG5 or JM2 :(

I bought my Galaxy S last Friday (27.5k, Reliance Shoppe, Chennai) and am just in awe of this wonderful tool. It was so enticing to see what all this phone can do.

So far I have not had any major concerns except that sometimes I felt the battery drains out very quickly. Well, the reason can be that I am fiddling with the phone all day long.

Another quesion I got for all you experts is how (the heck!!) does the GPS work. I use Wifi at home and GPRS while at work or other places. I am able to open the Google Maps which shows my location and all but whenever I try to open the GPS feature (Navigation), it says "Checking navigation availability" and then jumps to "Google navigation is not yet available in this location".

Can somebody help me understand how this GPS works on this phone? I sthere any way the Navigation tool can be used?

Yes , Google Maps Navigation is not supported in India. Install Brut's mod if you want the navigation feature.

I have created a batch script to sign apk/update.zip packages using the test keys.

In order to sign an apk/update.zip
--------------------------------
1 . Install JRE/JDK and set the java in PATH variable.
2 . Extract the signing tool
3 . Open cmd and run the command Sign <Update.zip/*.Jar/*.Apk>
4 . Done. Signed package will be created in the same folder.

The script is fairly simple and can be easily ported to linux shell script.
 
hi guys,
its been 24hres since i have flashed my sgs with latest froyo 2.2 jp3 firmware. the phone is working fine no issues.

now i want to ask which is more faster the jm2 or the jp3 as i directly jumped from jf3.

i am going to install mapmyindia maps. so which firmware is better for gps?

JP3 started to lag like hell after installing 50 apps. Went back to JM2. Much stable for me. Will wait for JP4. Bt its nice that samsung is hurrying up the update process. HTC has already started the process of updating to froyo.
