Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

yes i also liked vinods method but my problem is how do i flash ddjg4 back from jph from download mode

If you want to get back to DDJG4(eclair) then download it from samfirmware and flash it thru odin. Remember to format internal sd card before that.
Just flash it using normal method as used for other firmwares.
Also then you can root it easily and change your product code back to the original.

Ps:-- You can also flash JM8 instead of JG4. Its good and i am not experiencing any serious lag so far. But its your choice.

hey nick..dude i had tayatumas v1.3 on jm7..nd den tried to flash xxjm8 on my fone..
but some error occured dev not loaded nd stuff..
nd now i m not able to flash a stock firmware usin odin..
i think i will have to remove da previous rom...
how do i remove a custom rom???help

Hi friends.. need some help here..

I am currently on DDJG4 and want to go to JM8 ...

1. I can use ODIN v1.0 to do that?
2. Somwhere it says to remove the SIM card before putting the phone in download mode.. but the FAQ in XDA forum does not say this .. do i really need to remove the SIM card?

3. Will this ROM seamlessly work in India over Vodafone network ..
4. If it reduces the lag, then i would like to use it as it is... without going root or applying in lagfixes...

5. Will i risk a situation, wherein just flashing this ROM may change my product code???

Lastly .. can I assume that JM8 is better than JG4 ..??

Thanks in advance...

Buddy if you dont have backup of old efs folder then there is only one solution left. Edit the nv_data.bin file using hexeditor. someone has given instruction on xda to do this. You are lucky that your imei is intact.

PS:-- changing of product code doesnt hamper any fuctionality of phone. Its just that u will not be able to recieve any new update thru kies.

hey tnx i recovered my product code now my product code i HKAINU....but pls clarify one thing...after recovering my product code...wen i click upgrade firmware in kies...it still says...this device version cannot be updated......does that mean i will still be not able to recieve any new update thru kies....????
pls clarify...

1. Go to this site and download Odin.v1.0/Odin.v1.3: http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm
2. You must remove your sim card and external sd card (both for safety).
3. Nickporwal is using this ROM and his feedback is satisfactory.
4. Better to avoid lagfixes.
5. You should backup your /efs partition before playing with new firmwares. It's better not to flash a very new firmware...wait for a few days and watch the reviews. When you are sure about the ROM go for it.
Note: Do a hard reset after your flash. The code: *2767*3855# (for safety).

Go to this page...you will find a very detail post specially for newbie....read the "How to Flash" section. Hope this may help you: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/104468-samsung-galaxy-s-indian-thread-13.html

hey guys plzz tell me whether rooting voids the phone warranty or not??
Yes ! It does. And service centers will always look for an excuse to void our phones' warranty :(
Note: But now it's not a big issue. You can unroot your phone even without flashing and remove any trace using just an update.zip.

Mate you can ignore this error. It will not harm nething.
If you want to correct this then just go to the below link and follow the instruction for installing Multi CSC thru adb instructions

Release: I9000XWJM8 - Multi CSC(s) Europe - xda-developers

Here is the excerpt from there:--

When using *Multi CSC* you need to:

Turn on USB debugging and plug in the phone.
Open command prompt and type:

Code:
adb shell
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.Preconfig/com.android.Preconfig.Preconfig

Then select the desired CSC version from the list and press "Install" (this happens on phone screen!).
The phone will reboot once the change is done.

It worked for me. You should have SDK for this to work.

Also for the other error :--

1. Wipe cache from recovery.
2. factory reset.
3. Then try to flash from Odin thru repartition checked.
4. If above doesnt work then try to hard reset thru phone code (*2767*3855#).This worked for some guys on other forums.

If all this doesnt works then Ask Tayatuma on xda forum. He will help you definitely.

Its fine. Kies is piece of shit. Its giving you this error cause you have european firmware and not the indian one. Once you flash the DDJG4 from samfirmware it will again start working. so dont wrry bout that. If you want to claim warranty just flash DDJG4 (all three files :--PDA,MODEM and CSC) and give it to the service centre.

not able to download from market also..

Buddy i am afraid you will have to reflash whole ROM again.
Just do few things before flashin:--
1. Clear market flash. Clear data from checking service thru manage applications.
2. Or just wait for 4-5 min to see if download from market works.
3. If above two doesnt help then reflash. Keep in mind tht after flashin stock JM8. Choose your language thru Locale and text settings. Then Flash tayatuma's ROM.

PS;-- Dont forget to remove sim and sd card before reflashing. Insert after everything is done.

Hey buddy where were you from long time? Good to see you back.

Sorry mate. I was in Chennai Apollo for my mom's spinal cord surgery. She is better now. In the mid time my phone has been replaced with a new one (DDJG4).
Thanks to You for a detail information and thanks to Saj_2001ind for suggesting me to use wifi. WGR614 working flawlessly :)

I'm looking for a call filter app which can block the call before the caller hears the ringing sound (just like SGS default auto reject). It would be very helpful for me if anyone suggests an app (he must use that).

Or try this app: [APP] SGS Toolbox - xda-developers
It has a CSC selection option.
