Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

only if HTC would have released their Desire in india earlier I would have gone for it, samsung had made a lotsss of people sad, is there a official forum so that we all can write to them about our feedback....and yeah mention we not gonna buy their phone any more

Well, I for one am still VERY happy with my buy because if the following reasons:

1. Awesome screen.
2. Awesome GPU.
3. Very fast with lagfixes etc.

and the MOST important point is that it is easily the MOST hackable phone around! That was the primary reason behind buying an Android phone.. Samsung has made this phone VERY open and hacker friendly.. That's not the case with HTC and Motorola phones.. Their bootloaders are locked!

TBH, GS has almost everything froyo offers with 2.1 itself! So I really don't mind the wait, as long as the ROM is good!

Also, the delay is still not yet confirmed. Tmobile USA has stated that the froyo update will be available by the end of the month!

the fm radio gives mono output,,why is this sort of basic issues with such a high end phone from a big company ?

will froyo will fix these ? not even confirmed.

Again, I personally don't even listen to radio (not on phone, not anywhere else).. So not a biggie for me.. Though I agree is should be stereo FM (the chip supports stereo). The thing is that samsung used very new models of all hardware (gps, fm etc).. So the drivers arn't mature enough yet.. But it will get better!

yeah I know it will get better, but people who spend a huge sum of money for a smart phone, does expect all the functionality and good performance out of the box...samsung has always been bad with their software.

again I would say, if HTC would have released their desire in india earlier almost with SGS, many ppl must have gone for it instead of SGS, I also would have :)

Hey Kalpik.. which firmware are you using right now? i was actually waiting for the froyo version but with it nowhere in sight i guess ill just upgrade to a good 2.1 rom.. any suggestions? im currently using JM2.. waiting for the final version of voodoo..

Try using tayutamas JM8 rom with voodoo 4 ... My phone is blazing fast now and no lags whatsoever ...

Its better if samsung take time and develop firmware which is tried and tested ... I personally am loving my SGS ... The screen is still to die for ... Plus its so slim and light ( i personally found the desire to be chunky)

I agree that the phone should work out of the box , no denying that , but there is no point in crying over spilt milk now ... Make use of the great work that the guys at xda are doing and you will enjoy your phone , surely :D

I would say it depends on the perspective of every person. Everyone is not very comfortable with rooting and flashing their phones. Not every one who have bought SGS knows everything about lagfixes or even xda like forums.

I am just saying that samsung should have done proper research before releasing the phone with crap software. If you dont use lagfix ,phone is laggy. My point is why to bear lags if this phone has blazing fast processor and GPU? Also there are hardly any games out there besides NFS shift which fully utilizes the true potential of GPU. By the time android will have such games, there will be many phones out there with good GPU.Because of this hardware only sammy is taking so much money. In my opinion 29k is not a small amount of money. If samsung would have given SGS for 15k or even 20k, i would not have complaining about anything.

Also Nexus one is the most hackable phone right now.Maybe samsung doesnt know how to lock the bootloader.........:p:p:p

If samsung would have released lagfree phone, devs at xda would have been busy taking SGS to new heights. But unfortunately devs are breaking their heads deciding which file system to use for lagfix. i would have thrown SGS if xda devs would not have released any lagfix.

Anyway we cant do nething now besides sticking with SGS. So i would say we should learn to be patient (pun intended) and love the shit samsung has done on our beautifull AMOLED screens:D. I will wait for froyo and hope that sammy fix the lag and other issues. Besides i dont expect that samsung will release gingerbread ever for SGS. What a perfect timing samsung is releasing the froyo, when google will be releasing gingerbread build.

Hmmm .. Finally people here are beginning to understand Samsung. Good. Its a mass marketing company. U know Galaxy Tab is out with froyo.. We might get Froyo and thats it.. People understand! they are giving free stuff like games and swype of worth 1000bucks :P thats why they have just shipped it out with crappy software

If your expectation becomes true then it will be very disappointing to me.
I think it would be better if samsung takes more time before releasing froyo.....but it must be a bug free rom. I also highly expected Gingerbread would be released in future for SGS. If *not*.........I have burnt my money
PS: What is the utilization of having such powerful hardware if it doesn't even get Android 3.0 ??? Is it just for gaming ?

I think if ur expecting Gingerbread on SGS then you might get dissappoint.:(
This is highly unlikely.
the best part of android 3.0 is that the whole UI will get overhaul. I hope google just include GPU acceleration support in UI. Then Android will be as smooth as iphone.

dude, these companies has to sell their new handsets, why will they keep updating their old ones, no one will buy their new phones everyone will keep updating ...

PS: Gingerbread will be on Q4 and I purchased SGS just 2 months ago paying 28000/-. I don't see any unreasonableness to expect at least this update

Companies should, for one thing, introduce competing new models (with their previous one), only once a year. (a 8-12 month cycle;similar to what Apple does) . And at least give good bug-free updates for 1 year.

That way their model would get considerable recognition and branding, and could sell lots. (Provided their model was good from the start). Won't it at least build some kind of customer loyalty. (At least, spare them from having really bad reputation, that Samsung has, of not supporting their phones, which ultimately affects them in the long-term) :(

I have read on a forum that people in US with carrier Locked SGS will get froyo in mid November. LOL
what a setback. Samsung is sure gonna loose hell lot of customers.

Nick, what do you think ? What is the reason behind this delay ? Is there any chance for a better release ? May be they are worried about users' complains and trying to fix those......I don't know. What's your thought ?
