Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

hello friends,
these days my galaxy has become so much laggy...that it becomes unresponsive at times...and it feels so irritating....kindly help me out...what could be the reason for this lag....and what can i do to make it right.

If your comfortable with rooting and all ... you can try a wide variety of fixes.

Have a look at both the links , they should sort out your queries ..

Hellow people... 1st of all, you all have been a great help.. I've only been reading and learning, but now its time to post! (special thanks to kalpik, munna***, and norman***. ... zz forgot the complete nicks)

Guys, I used Odin3 v1.3 to flash JG4 the FW update. Didn't use kies.

I repartitioned it but didn't 'hard reset' as they call it. (unsure how to do it and what it really does).... when i did it, the phone worked great, GPS now is amazing, catches location in just 10 seconds.

BUT!!!! , android market simply downloads and says 'Installing...' and no progress. I must mention that it did download OCLF 2.0 and after rooting and OCLFing no other app could be downloaded.

I just don't know whats the prob. Tried clearing all caches (according to honeytechblog, etc etc) .

tried factory reset and synced my other google account. Did it a min ago and its downloading again.... I hope it stays this way. but still your comments are most welcome... thanks again.. and grats kalpik over the economic times article... :)

When I bought the phone, it came with JF3 firmware. I lagged very badly. There is an updated firmware available in Kies which is DDJG4. It no longer lag as badly as before. Furthermore the GPS is slightly better.

Froyo has also just released. Indian users will have to wait a few days before it is available.

Updating using Odin is recommended for advanced users. However, You must read a lot of posts and understand stuffs at [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=665]xda-developers[/URL] before flashing your phone.
 
hey guys...anyone facing any difficulty while updating kies??? It gets stuck at "Extracting & Install Files" all the time....

I downloaded kies...and it says I have a firmware update for my cell....but I have not updated nor rooted my cell..so I want to ask u guyz that if I update through kies..will I loose all data on my phone..and will it update it automatically or do I need to do something of my own...pls reply asap..thanks all.

dont worry..upgrade it. Sync your phone with google or use miqlive.com app to sync SMS contacts etc etc.

i need a help..i rooted my galaxy s for one click lag fix and voodoo lag fix.yesterday i unrooted my phone by the unroot option given in ryanza one click lag fix.my *#1234# info is:
PDA i9000DDJF3
PHONE i9000DDJF3
SCS i9000DDJF3
kernel version : 2.6.29 root@SE-S 603 # 2
I want to know that is my phone still rooted bcz kernel version is not showing just 2.6.29
i installed many apps which needs phone to be rooted,they show that my phone is not rooted..i want to know about what my present kernel version tells.
also m i eligible for warranty of the phone?
 
i want to navigate bt whenever i try to navigate through google map it shows navigation is not available on ur region..is there any method to navigate here in india

You can either buy map my india app or can try brute mod for google maps which is free.

You are very much eligible for warranty provided you do a factory reset or reflash to the original firmware via odin. Keep your phone rooted , it has more advantages than disadvantages ... :cool:

my kies software is not recognising any phone connected to it...while in phone itself it shows connected....now i want to upgrade my phone and it is not there in kies....pls suggest what could be the problem...thanks

Buddy if you are using any launcher other than TWlauncher then kies will not recognize ur phone (This has been rectified in 2.2). switch your launcher to default samsung one. Also when your phone will get connected to kies, a app called MTP will start on phone.

Also kies install the drivers of phone very first time. So better disconnect and connect it again.

i m not using any launcher....i installed kies today and connected my phone.. at first time it got connected but after that it is not recognising it.

Thanks...I want to know that is still my phone is rooted or not??? Because whenever i install an app which requires rooted phone,application shows my phone is not rooted and if my phone is not rooted what does my present kernel version signifies/shows which i mentioned above??

I am new to Android phone. I had a Nokia 5800 Express Music phone. I transfered all the details to my PC. Now I got this Samsumg Galaxy S Vibrant t959 as gift from my friend in USA. It is unlocked and does accept my Vodafone SIM card. I just want to know how to transfer my contacts and other details from my PC to this new phone? Please help.

What formats are the contacts stored in? Outlook?
