Samsung galaxy s or htc desire?

hi friends i am a 16 yr old boy hunting for a new phone(a smartphone at that).i have shortlisted the samsung galaxy s and the htc desire.please help me out.

P.S.-this phone must serve me good for at least 4 years as in my country there's no subsidy offered by service providers on smartphones with locking,plans etc.so i must get my money's worth.
 
Find the difference and decide whether any of them aredeal-breakers for you. That's what I did.

Decent build quality ---------Plasticky

Looks original ---------------Looks like an iPhone rip-off

4 gig memory card ----------8/16gb hard drive
Many recommendations ------Many warnings

That's pretty much what made my mind up but each to their own and I imagine you will get biased results posting this in a Desire forum.
 
Personally i read all the reviews i could find on the net & ended up deciding on the desire, but the galaxy s wasn't out when i got my phone.
There are loads of pros & cons for each phone, if you are prepared to go the rooting road then you needn't worry about how quick the updates come.
Samsung have got a poor reputation for follow up care, there again i am sure you can find quite a few would say that about HTC.
