Samsung Galaxy S2 - Battery Advice

Hi Guys,

I have had my Galaxy S2 for around five days (my first smart/android phone) and need a bit of advice on the battery.

I make a few calls through days, send a few texts and check facebook and then when I go to bed I leave the phone on charge (normally between 11pm and 7.30am), but even without heavy use, I find the battery is down to around 30% by 7pm, and by 9pm its practically flat.

I have adjusted the brightness of the screen, turned off my bluetooth and Wifii but what other advice can you give to extend the battery life?

I have heard that it sometimes takes a while to condition the battery? How long should that normally take? Also, is it worth downloading any apps which can help?

i wouldn't charge it THAT long. my battery got better after a few charging cycles.
i wouldn't install battery saver apps or widgets cuz imo they suck battery power to run, therefore defeating the purpose.

what OS are you running? some have been known to deplete battery quicker than other versions of the OS. i am on 2.3.4 and have no battery issues whatsoever.

you can try 'airplane' mode when charging, or even just power it off while charging.

hope others will chime in and answer some more.

Cheers for the tips, I am on OS 2.3.5 but will try airplane mode when charging. How long do you get from your battery?

Andy

i am a light user, on my original battery, 1650mah, i would get 1 1/2 days. on my 2000mah battery, i get easy 2 days.

airplane mode disables all wireless feeds, this may help in charging.
i only charge mine when it gets down to about 40% and charge until it 'chimes' at me, charge done. that would take about 2hrs or so.

let's wait until ICS has all the bugs out of it, then upgrade.

but ya, battery should hold better charge after a few charges, but let it go down to 20 or 30 % before you charge again.

when you initially charged it, did you let it charge for at least 8hrs, to produce a 'memory'?
