Help Samsung Galaxy S2 cannot detect SIM card

First thing I would do is to try the SIM in another phone to make sure it works. If it doesn't work in another phone, you'll have to get a new SIM. If it does, then I'd suggest a factory reset. It would be a pain in the rump, because you'd have to re-setup your phone from scratch (and if you do go that route, make sure you back everything up off the phone that you want to keep).
If that doesn't work, you may have a bad radio, which means sending the phone in for repair.

I totally agree with lunatic because sometimes SIM is not working in one phone but it works on other one. You should check new SIM on your phone first if the problem remains then you should do reset your phone.

If you sync your contacts with Google, then they are already backed up. If you saved them only to your phone, a new sim card shouldn't affect them. If the problem is the phone itself, then you'll need to have it repaired, but that's unusual. It's more likely you simply need a new sim card. Your carrier will have to reprovision the new sim for your phone number, but it shouldn't do anything with your contacts. Now, if your contacts are saved on the sim card (bad idea) and you can't read the sim, you might have already lost them.

My phone is saying that the Mobile Network is not available..... then it will say insert the SIM card....I done a total factory reboot about 1 month ago with Straight talk and now I have a new SIM card and it will not read it...........what should I do?
That may not necessarily mean it's not reading the sim. It could mean the sim is deactivated or not provisioned properly for your carrier. I'd give the Straight Talk people a call to check your account and that it is not deactivated.

Everyone I know has a CDMA phone. I will try to reset it again, also I do have a Google account, do I plug my phone into the computer and will it sync automatically. Thanks for all your help
If you've got the phone set to sync and backup apps and data, then once you reset it and log into your google account, it will reinstall apps and contacts, but you'll need to enter settings for other email and apps.
