Samsung Galaxy S2 probably going to AT&T

Hey guys, not sure if there has been much regarding this but I haven't found anything.

I was at the AT&T store today checking out their phones. While I was there I brought up the Samsung Galaxy S2. The salesman told me with great confidence that it will be coming to AT&T and not T-Mobile. Just thought I would let everyone know this piece of information. He could have been making assumptions but he seemed very knowledgeable on the matter and kind of seemed like he might have known more...
 
Or he could just be a very diligent employee. The Galaxy S was partnered with every company imaginable globally, with no less than five US carriers, to reach their 10 million sale goals. I doubt they are planning to buck the trend.

True, I just hope they don't strip/change the S2 in anyway...
 
Samsung seems to be caving in to fanboy update cacophonies so I don't think they will change them too much this time around. The Galaxy S2 will have competitors, unlike the original which could coast along smugly.
 
Went in today, he said I have no idea, but we have a stupid new blackberry tablet coming out.

Then I'm like, Okay buddy, cya around.
 
i dont understand how anyone could trust anything one of these sales guys could say. theyd have to know some pretty important guys to get information like that and if they were that savvy they'd probably have shared it with xda or somethin long before making the announcement to random guests at their store

also i'd be pretty mad if the sgs2 was att only
 
I was all for tmo getting the S2 however now samsung has the device listed with specs on there website and the S2 does not carry the aws 1700 mhz band so it looks like for now this will be a release for ATT. Darn ATT gets 2 dual core phones and TMO 0 ! not that you cant use it on tmo if you get your hands one one and have it unlocked but theres no point if you cant get 4g or 3g data. Same complaint all the iphone users had/ have when they jailbroke iphones and thought ya tmo here I come only to be disappointed that they will only get 2g speeds with an iphone on tmo !

Not again. This is a generic page for the international unlocked version. Of course it won't have T-mobile bands. The Galaxy S didn't have it either. And the Vibrant for T-mobile was the first to come out in NA.
 
I think I already had my say in another thread, but [Samsung], make this simple:

Same form factor, same components/features, change the radio as needed. That's it. Of course I'd also like to avoid providers specific Dookieware
 
Since At&t just bought out T-mobile USA, I wonder how soon T-mo customers can start using At&t bands? The deal prolly won't be complete until a year later, but the SGS2 likely won't come out until then. :p

Why would AT&T buying out T-mobile have any bearing on SGS2 release? You are too pessimistic.
 
If the Galaxy S 2 does go to AT&T I will seriously be switching. Just found out AT&T works better in my area than Verizon so them getting the Atrix, the LG 3D AND possibly this is too tempting to pass up.

3 amazing phones to choose from.
 
I can feel you. In my area all four major carriers work fine, so I'm open to switching carriers from VZW depending on the phone. Not that I had any issues with them. They are great when traveling.

VZW has been king of android last year. But it seems that balance of power is shifting to AT&T now and even more so after acquiring T-mobile. VZW will be getting Revolution, Bionic, DX2, D3 this year. But I think they need even more compelling androids like SGS2 and rumored Droid Targa (if it's real) to remain competitive in android phones. VZW, please don't let them sit on laurel in favor of iPhone, otherwise I will switch.

Not sure if serious looking at the devices under your avatar. Or they are all hacked phones? Excluding the Iphone 4 of course since Verizon just got it.

Kindapsyched b/c I'm due an upgrade and I have the ATT family plan and here on Long Island I have no problems with ATT at all.
This phone looks amazing...just wondering what the price'll be.

It's interesting the first link mentions the Tegra2, but the link over to the actual Samsung site, the specs/content only mentions:

The whole idea of two CPU options (and display?) for the same phone model seems silly: from marketing to economy-of-scale/production.
