Help Samsung Galaxy S2 & Skype

I'd received a couple of uncolicited calls and messages thru' Skype, and their names appear in my phone contact list. Does anyone knows how to remove these contacts?

Go to Settings > Accounts & Sync > Manage Accounts (here click on the sync button next to Skype option)

That will disable Sync of Sykpe data and they will not appear on your contacts list.

Alternate option:

If this is not what you want to do, then log-in to your Skype account thro your PC and delete the contacts as you would do on the PC.
Go to Skype, on Contacts option, you will see "Remove from Contacts option". Once you remove, depending on the Sync interval set on your device, the contacts will get deleted from your phone.

Also, there is an update for Skype on the market yesterday: it promises to fix bugs and make the user interface smoother and video chat better... it is a good update.

I have an ATT Galaxy S2 and it will not work with Skype. I have the latest update updated version of Skype, the video is incorrect and the speaker phone will not work.
What has worked for me, has been to uninstall Skype and install Tango. Tango has worked amazingly well for calling my brother in London. Great sound and video. Unfortunately my contact list is tiny as no one has it yet.

When i look at all the apps on gs2. In manage apps, skype shows as being installed. But can't figure ou how to open it.
Anyone else seen this on there phone.

Any ideas? I want to use it and don't want to install from market if its already on my phone.

I have an old laptop without a camera or microphone. Can the SII be used via usb as a camera and microphone?

Can anyone tell me if Skype works on the Galaxy S2 or not ? I know there is a Skype for Android app, but cant find if it works with this phone or not in the manner it should. He is in London, UK and will be using it on 3.

I did use Skype on SGS2 in China and it works perfectly well. It's important to know however that there are two versions of Skype. If you are in China you may notice that whenever you want to go to Skype website, you get redirected to skypetom. On this version it's not possible to get video.
If you go outside China and download Skype it works relly great. Especially in China since the 3G or better 3.5G network is very fast.
Unfortunately I just flashed my phone with ICS and lost Skype. So I have to wait until I'm again outside china and load the international version.

by the way, china blocks also many other apps or has domesticated apps

hope that helps.

JUST FOUND THE SOLUTION. ON YOUR PC GO TO ICS-Compatible-Skype-2.5.0.160.apk
ON THE TOP RIGHT SIDE YOU WILL FIND THE DOWNLOAD BUTTON. THIS IS THE APK FILE.
WHEN YOU ARE DONE DOWNLOADING IT TO YOUR COMPUTER, SIMPLY TRANSFER IT TO YOUR SD CARD
THEN FIND AN APP INSTALLER ON ANDROID MARKET (USING YOUR PHONE OF COURSE), ONCE THE APP INSTALLER IS ON YOUR PHONE OPEN IT, FIND THE FILE ON YOUR SD CARD AND CLICK "INSTALL".

WORKS JUST FINE!!!!!!!!!!

ATTENTION THIS IS THE SKYPE APK FOR ICS. IF YOU NEED PREVIOUS VERSION YOU MAY FIND THEM AS WELL ONLINE. JUST GOOGLE FOR IT.

Sawasdee,

I live in Thailand on an island called Phuket.
I use SGS2 on DTAC 3g
I'm working in Tour + Entertainment Biz.
I'm using Skype to talk with my friend who lives in Japan perfectly.
My friend in Japan said that, the voice and vdo from SGS2 was excellent.

I have no problem with Skype on SGS2, I like it very much.
Have a wonderful day + night for all.

Skype just pushed an update that fixes the upside video issue for many tablets. The version is 2.8.0.920. I still have a problem with the sending video for the Lenovo A1...the camera is zoomed in and the angle is off.

Skype and the Galaxy S2. I started using this phone for 3G vodafone chats with friends in Thailand. Great times. then I did an upgrade from GB 2.3.4 to ICS 4.0.3. Skype voice nolonger worked even on a good 3G connection with its own Test call, never mind a real call. So roll back time. not easy but my phone went back to GB 2.3.6 and the 4 layer Thai script font is excellent, plus the Skype worked again perfectly. Then i allowed an auto update. Thai script is still OK but at the same time my "App Market" changed to "Play Store", Skype stopped working AGAIN! Are there any apps out there that can conrol updates, other than the "turn your auto updates off" which is a given. Or has anyone got the answer to what is really causing this issue with skype voice. Video is not needed at this time.

I use skype to stay in contact with friends and family around the world and have been doing so for some considerable time.

My experience of Skype and the SGSii using both wifi and the TMobile network is sadly lacking to say the least  Connections are either difficult to call, are very quiet and connections are prone to drop. Other users on other SGii's and different networks may fare better or worse? I'd be interested to know. Skype on the SGSii does not, as yet, allow video chat.

The 3 network provides Skype free as part of their service. I have migrated from 3 to TMobile. However, I still use my Nokia E61 on an expired PAYG 3 sim to make free calls using Skype and find the 3 network service to be very reliable. This may well apply to other SGSii users on the 3 network?
Yes I have heard 3 works well where I am and Orange/T is only satisfactory.
I have a new Xperia U and can't login to Skype. I was wondering if this was a signal issue, a Sony issue or an Orange not co-operating with Skype issue. I can logon using my laptop in the same place.

Any ideas?
Elephantseye.
