Samsung Galaxy S2 software update issue

I have updated my i9100 to Android 4.1.2 stock rom and then installed a rooted kernel.

The problem is that the phone keeps trying to update the software and every time I switch it on I get a popup saying that software is ready to be updated, then the phone gets stuck in a loop saying " checking for software updates".

I've turned off automatic updating, but still keep getting the same message.

International version of i9100, based in the UK.

Cleared cach and dalvik, but no change

Any ideas how I can stop it?

You could freeze the updater app using Titanium Backup, as described in this step-by-step guide, here.

Resolved the problem by downloading the latest Stock rom and manually installing. Now turned off updates.
