You should be able to export your outlook contact into a csv and then import that into Gmail. That will keep them backed up for Android. I hope this helps and welcome to AF:)

like I said never did this before I'm trying my best I guess write it all down on the old one then put it in the new one

what he said. don't worry about what csv is, you should see the option in outlook for export and for import in gmail. That should get the contacts moved over.

i'm trying this now ???
wish me luck

didn't work... or i didn't do it right

how does anyone with a smartphone transfer all there contacts details over.. it can't be the old way of manually entering in all the info again ?

You won't need to do that. Sorry if my post were kind of sarcastic. That wasn't my intent. I try to keep my posts lighthearted but in re-reading them they don't look that way to me. I am going to bed shortly but I am subscribed to this thread, so if you do not have help by the morning, I will get you step by steps in the morning.

Again, sorry if I was untoward, I re-read them and I didn't like the tone. I am really here to help. I really like this site as everyone here is helpful and I wouldn't want to be the nitwit to offend you and make you look somewhere else.

Open Outlook.
Open the Contacts view.
File/Import and Export.... Export to a file.
Choose "Comma separated values (Windows)".
Select the correct Contacts folder.
Choose the destination and name to save the file to.

Now open Gmail in your desktop browser.
Click "Gmail" in the top-left (with the little arrow next to it) and change it to "Contacts".
Clcik the "More..." button and choose "Import..."
Browse to the .csv file you saved above then click the "Import" button.
Your contacts will appear in Gmail and can be edited if required.
The next time your Galaxy S2 syncs with Google, your contacts will magically appear! :)

I hope this is easy to follow.
