Help Samsung Galaxy S3 Screen Timout Problem..

loro

Newbie
Please Help Me...
I bought a sIII few months back. And the problem is, whenever i launch an application, it first starts..then goes blank[Black screen]..then it comes again..after few seconds it goes blank and thereafter it just repeats...
It's really Frustrating.!!
I closed all the running apps, made time-out to 2 minutes, etc..but no luck..:(

Hoping to get a reply soon....
Thank You

Im not sure but maybe it has something to do with "Smart Stay" (in Display settings) do you have that activated?

Its designed to stop the screen from timing out while the front camera detects a pair of eyes looking at it. I dont use it but i remember reading about people having problems with the screen keeping dimming while using it. Its the only thing i can think of :)

I tried it..no luck..:/

Hope someone has an idea then or else a factory reset might be the only thing that fixes it. does it even happen with timeout set at 10mins?

Maybe it isnt to do with timeout. When it happens, do you have to turn the screen on again with power button? Has this happend since you bought the phone?

no..it comes back automatically after 4 seconds...then it goes blank after another 4/5 seconds..
It did not happen at the time of purchase..

If theres a chance that it started then, i recommend doing a factory reset. I know its a pain in the ass :(
Do you have a memory card in the phone to put your pics on? Or put them onto a pc.
Wait and see if anyone has a better guess but factory reset will probably fix it

Does it do this with all Apps. Before you do the Factory Reset suggested by funkylogic try wiping the main Cache.
Do the following:
1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key at the same time.
3. When the phone vibrates, let go of the buttons.
4. Press the Volume Down key to move to and highlight wipe cache partition.
5. Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache partition.
6. After the wipe is finished, go back up till reboot system now is highlighted and press the Power key to restart the phone.

Did u try wiping the cache partition? If so, just do the factory reset, it certainly wont do any harm. Lots of s3s are having problems for not resetting after the jb update
