Samsung Galaxy s4 Overheating Issue

My Galaxy s4 Beginning to heat up when i am Charging, Browsing the internet and playing games in short period of time. Do you have the same problem? I already updated my SGS4 to 4.3 but isnt solve the problem. What the possible Solution with this problem? Thanks

yes, i face this problem, i faced this problem with my prior s2 and s3 as well so i try to avoid using it while. Moreover, touch sensors also works weirdly at times.
 
Agreed, it's a problem I've seen on all of my devices. Charging them while doing anything intensive will cause them to get very warm.
 
All devices do this when charging, it's normal.

It shouldn't get much warmer when browsing the web but playing games will add allot more heat it an already warm device, I wouldn't recommend it while charging.

This is excellent very accurate advice.
 
On my old Samsung Infuse phone I installed a battery temperature monitor widget on the homescreen to keep an eye on things. If I saw temperature heading above 105F, I'd think about curbing the activities that heat the phone (charging, gps, high screen, data transfer, heavy cpu processes). And start watching closer If I saw temperature heading above 115F I'd definitely shut everything down.

In my car, I used GPS, navigation, data on, sometimes listening to podcasts, and had to recharge periodically. It wasn't hard to get to 115F and once I got to 123F when I wasn't paying close attention. I've heard the components are good to well above 130F but I'm not interested in challenging the limits.

I haven't had my S4 long. First impressions are that it doesn't get quite as hot / as fast under similar duty as indicated by the battery temperature indicator, but it feels hotter on the back then the old one did for a given battery temperature. Maybe that means the phone is effectively transferring heat away from the battery (and hopefully other components) to the back cover.
 
I normally charge my phone when I go to bed every night, and while I watch TV I'm always on my phone, checking Facebook, reading/responding on Google+ and other hobby type of forums. I've never had my phones (S4, Galaxy Nexus, or Optimus V) get hot while on it during charge. Even while we're in the car and I use Google Maps or listen to music over Bluetooth while plugged in, my phones have never gotten hot. My phone is also plugged in when I flash custom roms, and they've never been warm.

Perhaps you have a rogue 3rd party app running and eating too many resources. Id check into that.

i am on stock rom, no roots nothing, yet i faced this issue with
s2, s3 and now with s4.
 
I would respectfully suggest the discussion very ambiguous unless people describe their temperature quantitatively (the subjectivity reminds me of the lag discussions, but this topic SHOULD be easier to discuss objectively). EVERY phone will experience an increase in temperature depending on the sources of heat (cpu use, data use, screen use, GPS use, charging) and the history (how long have these activities been going on). For all we know, the op 28jhuz’s phone acts identical to Petra’s phone… they just have a different idea of what constitutes “warm”, “heating up”, "overheating", "hot" etc.

My friends have S4 and note 3 they also experiencing this issue but they say it is normal for a phone that has Octacore (I9500) and quadcore (I9505) processor because our phone has no exhaust fan. A Dualcore Pc needs a exhaust fan even if it is dual core what more for a quadcore and octacore. Theres a news regarding to android 4.4 kitkat that rolling out for Samsung galaxy s4 in the end of Jan. 2014. Lets pray that this problem will be solve in that firmware. GODBLESS!! :)
 
Most of our apps only display battery temperature. I googled for app that could show cpu temperature and couldn't find one (I read that the program that replaced system tuner / root could do it, but I'm not eager to give a program root access just for that).

I did find a very interesting trick:

Open your dialer and put in Key in *#0*#

It will load FactoryKeystring app menu, which the factory uses to test the phone.

That menu has lots of tests. To get to the one we're interested in, press sensors, then scroll to the bottom where it says temperature, then press "thermistors" over to the right.

It starts a running log of three columns of temperatures (in degrees C).
The 1st column is labeled AP. According to the webpage, that's application processor (cpu temp).
The 2nd column is labeled PAM. Don't know what that is.
The 3rd column is labeled BAT on the link and CHG on mine. He says it's battery. The value that I read off f CHG on mine also matched what my battery temperature widget was telling me, so ours is also battery although I don't know what CHG stands for.

So there you have it. If your phone gets unusually hot, you can launch that test and check not only your battery temp but also you cpu temperature. And lots of other stuff to play with in that menu too if you've got too much time on your hands. Be careful...while I was able to exit the temperature log using back button, I was not able to get out of the vibration test without rebooting my phone.
