Samsung Galaxy

Two years isn't very long! My s21 is starting to lose battery life, but it's 4 years old (I was hoping to limp it on to this time next year, but beginning to have doubts about that).

These days the update cycle for many Samsungs is long enough that it's not going to be the thing that limits the phone's life.

My S21 is still enjoying decent battery life. Most of it's life I've been retired and it has seen far less use than previous phones. I don't see the battery life forcing a new phone anytime soon. Not communicating well with my new hearing aids or the lack of support will prompt a change .

The more I read about the upcoming S26 Ultra, the more inclined I feel to NOT buy it. I'll keep my S24 Ultra since its successors have been only minor updates, relying on a bunch of whiz-bang "AI" features (most of which I don't want and won't use) as selling points. Instead, I may very well switch to the Moto G Stylus 2026 and save $1000.

I've been paying attention to the Moto G Stylus (2026) and expect its release sometime around CES. In reading articles, however, I found out that Motorola is working on the Moto Edge 70 Ultra: a powerhouse expected to ship with a stylus AND microSD slot... at half the price of the Galaxy S-Ultra. It's nice to know there are options out there for those of us who rely on the S Pen.

Okay, this is some pretty cool stuff. I'm actually considering a trade-in: I know I'll lose the Bluetooth S Pen of my S24 Ultra, but I can control the camera and music with my watch.

After considering the new features of the S26 Ultra, our genuine need for them and how seldom we would use them, the Darling Bride and I decided that it's not worth the $700 (with trade-in) to get the new phone. I'll wait a few weeks and see what the Moto G Stylus (2026) will offer for a far lower price.

While Samsung is dumbing down the S Pen, Motorola is improving the stylus in the Moto G Stylus 2026... available April 16th in the U.S. At a third the price of the S26 Ultra, it has faster charging; a brighter screen; and, while it may have a slower processor (which won't matter for 98% of users anyway), it will sport a microSD slot capable of up to 1 TB external storage. How long has it been since a Galaxy flagship had that???

OK. Yes, thanks. I've seen that before.
I'm wondering if it may not be possible to edit the Pin unlock screen background colour, as from the replies I've seen so far, no one has mentioned that screen itself?
only for like the text. just head to settings.. nothing more you can do with it..

I must admit that the new Call Screening in One UI 8.5 is a really nice successor to the Call Assist Text Call feature. I can tap a button and it will ask the caller their name and reason for calling. I simply listen in and can take the call if it's legit: usually, though, it's not and the call disconnects without my having to do anything else.

UPDATE: I found the Moto G Stylus 2026 to be the most counter-intuitive smartphone I'd ever tried to set up... that's saying something because it was the 15th smartphone I'd purchased since the OG Droid in 2009. I don't know who's in charge of Settings, but everything is scattered around; few things are where I'd expect them to be; and some things just aren't there (or I can't find them). Connections are hit or miss: my Sony headphones paired just fine, but my Sony earbuds didn't even show up as an available device. Plus, the sheer amount of bloatware on the phone is staggering!

As much as I've looked forward to this phone (for months), I quickly became content to reset and return everything while still within Motorola's "generous" 14-day return window. It's boxed up and will be headed back to Moto tomorrow.
