Help Samsung Hub Application Missing

Pixel91

Lurker
Hello everyone,

I am new here so please forgive me if I got this thread in the wrong place.

Anyways, here's my current situation:

Galaxy S4 GT-I9505
Android 4.4.2 KitKat
Dumb User (me...)

When I got the phone I was excited about the big storage space it was advertised yet, I saw that most of it was full with bloatware or however those useless applications are called so...I cleverly decided to do something about it...

Rooted the device, installed TitaniumBackup or something like that, and deleted an application from Samsung (can't really remember what that was but I think it was Link?) and the Samsung Hub application started giving error messages every now and then so I got that out too.

Now my phone doesn't want to rotate the screen anymore, and Kies doesn't let me upgrade and initialize. Resetting the phone to factory defaults doesn't work, hard reset doesn't work.

All I wanna do is put the original firmware on my device and keep it original to avoid these types of issues...

Can anyone help? :D

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Pixel91! :)

Oh dear! Lets see if we can sort you out. I guess, as you have Titanium Backup, that you are rooted. If you followed the Rooting Galaxy S4 - Dummies Guide then, as per #3.3, you will have made a nandroid and a Titanium Backup straight after rooting...

#3.3. IMPORTANT: You should now make a nandroid, Titanium and /efs file backups after rooting.

If so, you can use the nandroid to restore your phone to its post rooted state. Similarly, if you made a Titanium Backup before deleting the system apps, you can go to the Titanium Backup and restore just the apps you deleted if you know which ones they were.

If not, you will need to download and flash the stock firmware for your phone's CSC code by following the instructions and links in #1.5 of 28 Galaxy S4 models - know yours? This will put the stock, unrooted, Samsung firmware on to your handset and you will need to re-root by following the Rooting Galaxy S4 - Dummies Guide.

TOP TIP: When dealing with bloatware, using Titanium Backup, do not delete items... merely freeze them, as described in the Bloatware removal - Dummies Guide

Thank you very much for replying so quickly o.0

To be honest I wasn't expecting a reply till tomorrow or the day after that, got kinda anxious again and flashed an official ROM from some website, now it's on 4.4.2 KitKat, Samsung Hub is there, the screen rotation works, everything is super duper :D

I've basically done exactly what you've said and everything turned out just great, expect that I think I'll stay away from rooting for a while till I can find some pretty good reasons to root my phone again xD

But yeah thank you very much for taking your time and getting back to me in such short time and keep up the good work :D

If you have flashed a stock Samsung firmware that does not match your CSC and Product code for your phone you will no longer be able to update via Kies or OTA and will have voided your warranty. See the disclaimer in #1.5 of 28 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?...

If your current firmware is Knox enabled, Android 4.3 onwards, you cannot downgrade to 4.2.2 or from 4.4.2 to 4.3.
This is for competent users and could void your warranty by flashing any firmware other than that intended for your original CSC code, see #1.3 above, as well as preventing future updates through Kies or Over The Air, (OTA).
