Samsung live chat about 2.2

I agree its quite frustrating waiting for 2.2. I've only had the phone for about 2 months and have been eagerly awaiting its arrival. However, like most people in this thread, I don't think the actions you took were really warranted. We all know that we're getting the run around regarding 2.2 and its aggravating how we're not even getting any specific answers as if its some top secret build. This is definitely not the way to treat customers. We should also know that taking it out on a regular samsung customer representative isn't the answer either.

If 2.2 is that important to you, like you mentioned to the customer service agent, there are TONS of roms made from 2.2 that you can load up on your captivate. You seem to have the know hows on how to do it as well mentioning XDA devs and custom roms. The only reason I'm eagerly waiting for 2.2 is maybe to get better battery life out of my device. Flash web browsing isn't that important to me since I've had it for the past 3 years on symbian devices.

I think like sremick said... if enough people bitch to these level 1 cs, it will get escalated further up. The level 1 cs people are paid to listen to the bitching. I don't think their feelings were hurt by what jayc said. If the cs guy took what jayc said personally... he's in the wrong line of work.

I don't want to root my phone

Some people dont want to jump to custom rom's my friend. Some people do not want to pay five hundred dollars for a brand new cappy(after the warranty is voided), when they should have a 2.2 cappy. The customer service agent should get a new job if sherwin does not want to hear it.

2.2 Isn't as amazing as you think my friend. Yes, it is a new software, and with that comes improvements, that little 2.2 software writing, and other specs that you think are going to be useful. Well, here is the truth, it isn't special. The battery life actually gets worse because the phone is suppose to perform "better". Honestly, the speeds are the same. Everybody in my family has Verizon except me. They all have Droids with 2.2, and yet, there is barely ANY difference in terms of how they perform. I know many may disagree with my, but demanding a date or pestering Samsung or even AT&T about Froyo isn't helping. Its BUSINESS, they point is to make money. While they are toying with our hopes about Froyo, at the end of the day, they will be working on other phones in hopes they will earn more money. Yes, if these phones fail it won't look good for their future, but the game is who can make a phone sound better on paper. Why did everybody like this phone? It sounds great on paper, all phones are boosted up and they all work fine, so it is really just up to those small things that help you choose. But they are simply that... small things. So don't bother complaining anyone or pestering customer service because it won't help. Its business, and they are trying to earn money.

just head over to xda and install one of their numerous custom roms. the only reason you need to root is to install clockwork mod rom manager and to install titanium backup if you care to backup your apps. I've tried cognition, perception, assonance, cezar's rom, and designgear's experimental port of gingerbread. most roms come with some nice looking custom themes, some gingerbread apps, no att bloatware, and are really snappy. i prefer assonance 5.2 right now, but they're all fun to try out.

if you're worried about "bricking" your phone or messing something up there's a bunch of really helpful tutorials and someone even posted a youtube demo of how to flash a new rom. as long as you can get into download mode you can always flash back to the stock JF6, so there's really nothing to lose.

i used to frequent this forum looking for updates on froyo all the time, but then i took the problems into my own hands and went about flashing custom roms on xda. don't blame some poor customer support guy who doesn't know anything.... froyo is there for the taking... why wait for an ota update???

android was built for this kind of customization, i don't see why people are so fed up with att and samsung when you can easily get froyo on your phone thru xda.

Its ridiculous to bring the Nexus S into the discussion. It is the flagship phone for GOOGLE. You know... the Android dudes. Their phones are ALWAYS going to have the latest and greatest.

Get over it.

This thread is going nowhere fast plus there's already an "All Things Froyo" sticky on the forum for discussion. Thread closed.
