Help Samsung Moment - Android 2.0 Availability?

My method is generally to ignore them until they realize nobody's going to give them the answer.

It's like my kids, after I've told them once a couple of times and showed them how to do it, when they ask again (they always do) I just look at them with my "Really?" expression until they go look for it themselves.

They usually stop after that.

just got back from a sprint store. they have the 2.0 upgrade but the problem is they haven't figured out how to install it yet - go figure! i went to 2 stores and neither had performed an upgrade yet but their techs were working on it. both said to check back tomorrow.. i'm sure some sprint locations have already figured this out so you may want to check .. one of the reps already had 1.6 installed and said it was a world of difference

I dont think its 2.1 upgrade they were talking about its the c14 maintenance release.

You got fed a line of crap. There is no 1.6 for the Moment, and the update for the CL14 isn't available everywhere. The 'official launch date' for the OTA update for CL14 is February 4th. Android 2.0 or *begins cracking up* 1.6 haven't been announced on a date. In short, if his phone has 1.6, it isn't a Moment. He lied.

I believe we know more about the moment and samsung's release credentials then the store sale person/tech person...
There is no 1.6 rom floating around.. samsung scrapped 1.6 development when they decided to go straight to 2.1... They never built even a working kernel let alone a working OS... as for 2.0 there is no samsung 2.0 development, thus there is no 2.0 kernel and OS files... if anything they might have a 2.1 development rom but i highly doubt it since we have connections to the dev file dumps and there is nothing about 2.1 in there yet..

That would be me: I spoke to one of the tech guys at Sprint managing this update. According to him, were supposed to be getting it February 4th. That is, of course coming from Sprint, so as always, take it with salt. Lots of lots of salt.

I meant from sprint directly. If it was a tech or a sales rep. I have to check with a friend who works there and see if he says the same. As I said that would be a plus for rural customers.

That is momentary. The only post that is relevant now is the last post. His issues were with Windows 7 64bit. He 'un'- bricked his phone by using a Vista machine (and XP also works)

FYI that problem is with the wrong set of drivers being installed... that is an issue the Root 'ers' were having and it all came down to which Samsung PC Studio Drivers were used. I have flashed my phone and I can say this Sprint process is very easy and straight forward...

sprint rep: Yes, you are correct that we are going to launch our Samsung Moment Andriod phone with 2.1 version in two weeks.

Phone store reps are almost 100% unreliable when it comes to update and release info. Ignore it! It seems that many will lie/guess so that they appear knowledgeable. When the CL14 update came out it was reported here that many (most?) stores didn't even know it was available until someone who saw a posting on a site like this came in asking for it and they looked for the info on Sprints inter company site.

Here's my prediction. 2.1 will come out a week or so before everyone here starts bitching about when 2.5 (or whatever version comes next) will be released.

Droid was suppose to have 2.1 a month or so ago and has been pushed off... it isn't like samsung is horribly behind every other manufacturer

That's because at zero hour they found that the 2.1 update for the Droid was going to brick the device (just like the Cliq update) and they had to bail on the OTA.

Look for the 2.1 Moment update between the 9th and 26th of April - wish I could give a more solid date, but I have a feeling the Hero will hit the 9th and as soon as the initial rush is done, we'll see the Moment's roll out.

While discussing other problems with my moment with a 4th level Samsung Tech, he told me that my other problem, not having a birthday field in the contact book would be taken care of with the 2.1 upgrade which we will have by the end of JUNE.
