I sent my phone to samsung do to many issues stemming from frequent power cycles, phone switching to no service in full service areas and screen sensor shutting phone off while finger on screen. I got an email from them stating nothing was wrong with the phone and that it passed all tests so I gave them a call an asked to speak with the service department and explained issues again and now I see this message

*Update* The tech added alittle more useless info:
*05/17/2012//20:55:22//0001773863//Telephone//ASC*
5/17/2012 7:54 PM-Reina: The unit has left the technician. SOLUTION: Replaced Component - Passed RF Test - Passed All Functional Testing
*05/17/2012//20:55:21//0001773863//Telephone//ASC*
SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD
PASSED RADIATION TEST
PASSED FINAL TEST
*05/17/2012//17:36:09//0001773863//Telephone//ASC*
5/17/2012 4:35 PM-SinWook Park Park: The unit has left the technician. SOLUTION: Replaced Component.

Does that mean the device has been replaced or just some random part they replaced so they could say they fixed it?

I called them again and now they claim once it leaves them they have no idea whats going on so I hung up on them as they are freaking *****.

Anyone clarify that message for me?

Thanks

PBA is a new main board. Yours is pretty generic but is not a main board replacement. Thats all the clarification I can give you.

Where would I find this kinda message since my phone is a replacement phone from the insurance company?

Email from Samsung has a link to track a repair with a ticket number. It's a repair, not a replacement.

So a refurbished phones from the insurance company won't have info of what was wrong with it or what was fixed? That is if it is a refurb. Thought it would be interesting what's been done to my phone.

It's not necessarily refurbished and it will not have a track record to be referenced.

A few things can happen, in some instances they will pop a brand new one open and give it to you as a refurb if they have no refurbs available. I had this happen years ago with a t-mobile phone that they quit making and had no refurbs for, they told me the case and sent me the new updated phone instead in a brand new sealed box.

In the case of the TU's I would bet your got a phone that had the "TS" issue and was returned/exchanged with that as the problem. They don't do anything to these except wipe the data and since it was used it's deemed refurb.

Last case is you got a phone that went through a lengthy process for a cracked screen, broken something, and it was fixed taking up to 1 month+. These become refurbs and await people with insurance claims. Keep in mind the problem could be something as simple as the TS issue or even a bad SD card.

P.S. I returned a TU due to the TS on a sprint branded phone. I bought a boost TU to play with and it was fine for the screen. Returned the boost exchanged mine, same issue on the new sprint lol. But yeah someone will get my old as a refurb.
