Samsung S2 + ICS: Battery and BT errors :(

Hello. I updated yesterday to ICS on my unlocked S2. After a full day of use, I found out several problems:

pairing with my BT car (mercedes BT) was OK, but after being connected for a while (a few minutes) it disconnects, and then reconnects again. If you are in the middle of a conversation, BT disconnects, you can't talk, and in some seconds it connects again. Impossible to have a conversation.

Same with music, I can also stream music to my car through BT, but after playing for (depends, a minute, some seconds, 3 minutes..) it disconnects.
I reset the connection, BT, set the BT discoverable all the time.. same error. I haven't had any error before.

Besides, battery drained much faster than before! Being Screen more than 50% of consume, BUT Android OS being 38%, and only 12% to calls....

Also, previously I was able to charge the phone using the integrated USB from the car. I noticed that now altough It states it's charging, the battery drained, it doesn't charge :-(

I hope a fix will come, since previously I had no problem at all...

Are there more people with the same issues as me? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I have to say that after so much expectations, I am a little bit dissapointed...

Best regards

last night I reset to default factory, just to be sure I had a clean start.

today since I knew it would discharge so fast, I am trying to charge connected to my laptop. It takes HOURS to gain a 5% of charged battery. I am trying with an standar wall charger, and it took two hours to gain a 17% charged battery.

Any idea? More people with same issue??

Ouch, that dont sound good.

Id say you have 2 options.

1) Factory reset again, get Odin3 v1.85 (that worked for me) DL this and install (if you need more of a guide gimme a message and ill try to remember to check here), its dead easy! That might get rid of the issue. I know people who used Odin3 to update were told to factory wipe before update as there are update gremlins... Maybe thats just what you have?

2) Report fault and see what happens.

Hope that helps!! :)

Thanks for your help ThEGr33k.

In fact, I updated to ICS with Odin.

Some news on the BT issue:

Today (coming from yesterday's factory reset) I re-paired with the car BT, and what I did was that I had the Mercedes BT in mode "waiting for external authorisation" instead of the S2 looking for the car BT.

They paired, and it looks like the BT issue is solved. At least, I could have a 4m call and listening music without problems. So I guess that the factory reset (or pairing this way) solved this issue, I will let you know tomorrow I have to drive some hours.

But the battery problem still exists, and it seems more people (been googling a while) have similar problems, lets see...

Glad the BT thing is sorted at least. Another thing that could potentially help the battery thing could be to take battery out ground the contacts on the phone (touch them) and leave it some time to make sure its all discharged. Odd things like that could help.

Sometimes ROM installs can have little issues, especially if as you said you installed without a wipe. So giving that another go is probably the best bet.

I have BT problems. While connected to my car stereo for a while, the phone either reboots itself or I get an unresponsive screen and the only way to fix is to reboot. I've had these problems in a few ICS roms including the latest LPQ.

OK, after 5 days of ICS use, an update: BT problems are all gone with the full factory reset I did on the 15th.

Battery seems to work a little better. I have seen some posts with similar experiences, it starts really bad after the upgrade, and with some charges/discharges, it gets better. I couldn't say it is working as preICS, but at least now it is operational.

I wouldn' recommed anybody to upgrade to ICS, unless you need anything from it you already know. If you want it just because "it is available", I would wait, it doesn't really offer much more, and it needs an additional rework.

I just upgraded because I wanted to experience similar multitasking as with my old Pre2, and it is not really multitasking. Webos still kicks the ass of all mobile operating systems on that. Google should buy it from HP to include this functionality in Android.

I have also seen the charging issue and my battery usage has plummented from 16 (ish) hours down to only 4 which I am worried about. I am hoping this was a one-off problem!

Hi, I'm having the same reboot problems (using official ICS 4.0.3) after being connected to Sony BT Car Radio. I have reboot problems when streaming audio & Call after a while. Did you find any solution to the problem? greetz, Phil

No, I still get these problems. I even updated to LP7 but the issue persists. Seems like we will have to wait for samsung for a fix.

Wow - finally found some people with the same problems. I have found if you allow access to the phone functionality but not the media then the phone doesnt crash - though im not sure how useful this is.

Im interested if anyone has done a factory reset - and if this clears the problem ...

I'm also having Bluetooth issues when connecting to my Sony car stereo after upgrading to ICE. It freezes when the phone connects and then displays "Unfortunately, bluetooth share has stopped". It then will play for a few minutes until the phone reboots. It was fine on 2.3.5.

I haven't noticed any battery issues.
