Samsung S7 OS update timetable?

I cannot find this online anywhere.

(the OS updates for my T700 tablet were online - android 4.4.2 going to v5.x.x)

Currently the S7 is v6.x.x (probably 6.0.0 or similar).

The device has been out for only a couple of weeks. Basically I am looking for the first update *after* the current one, because that one will have a load of bug fixes.

And then I will buy it :)

Rooting it will prevent further OS updates.

Android 6.0.1 actually, the latest currently available to OEMs.

Only Samsung themselves could provide an answer to that, I'm afraid. The current release firmware includes the March security patch, so they may push an update if/when another is issued this month. Whether that addresses any "bug fixes" however is purely down to Samsung.

Is there a list of bugs anywhere? I found the usual reports on the usual mobile sites e.g. the wifi+bluetooth issue, though I bet that affects only a small number of phones.

Typically,mfgs won't come right out & say "bug fix",or anything similar,unless it's something totally Fubar/elephant-in-the-room level.
They'll use words like Enhancements/Improvements,but,typically don't go into detail............
The carriers sometimes have notes to particular items fixed,YMMV depending on if it's a carrier device,or,SIM Free.

Sure :) You always wrap up bug fixes under the guise of something innocuous.
So I will just keep a look out for Samsung OS updates. Is there a website on which these are reported?

Also, and knowing the Qualcomm version is not rootable, is there any difference between S7 phones for different *European* countries? If I buy on Amazon I don't get to choose (with any certainty) which European merchant they come from and which country version it is. All I will be able to check is that it is the Exynos version. Also a lot of Amazon merchants use fake locations; the product comes from elsewhere.

sammobile.com is a place you can usually find news of Samsung software updates. Whether that's quicker than just telling it to check for updates is doubtful.

I don't want to buy the phone until it has had a few firmware upgrades, and hopefully a hardware upgrade too. I will need to root it and once you do that, no more updates are possible.

Most ROM developers incorporate any improvements from the updates, provided they're not buggy.
I wouldn't let that be the sole/main deterrent from rooting your device..........

I won't be doing a custom ROM. Don't really see the point on this product. I did that on Nokias (Delight CFW on the 808 was very good) but there it had to be done to get around stupid restrictions which became even more stupid once Nokia went bust and M$ bought it, e.g. time-limited app signatures.

I was just going to root it, like I did with the S6 and the T705

to enable proper backups, and a few other features, including proper access to the file system.
