Samsung Stealth V 4G To Beat HTC Thunderbolt To Verizon?

granted, it likely won't beat thunderbolt to market (fingers crossed) and it is a samsung (aka poor update record, plasticky, and to my eyes fugly)... but a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen and verizon 4g...

this article is reporting it has a new dual core chipset which i hadn't heard before. if this is true does it make a tempting 'bolt alternative?

From the linked article:

"The Samsung Stealth V packs a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED, dual-core Exynos chip, 1080p video recording via its 8-megapixel camera, HDMI out, micro USB and may run Android 2.3 Gingerbread when it debuts (was running Android 2.2 Froyo when it launched at CES back in January)."

This is the first time I've heard that the Stealth will have a dual core, has anyone else heard this?

That phone is not suppose to have a dual core, its suppose to have a 1 gHZ Hummingbird I believe. Specs from CES said only 1ghZ in it.

That's what I had read as well. If it does have a duel core that would make it the first duel core phone for Verizon, which would be a pretty big deal. I would think they would promote the hell out of that fact.

Is there a spec sheet on this phone, the T-Bolt is better looking but the samSung Screen look sweet though I prefer HTC Sense to touchthecheese wiz.

This phone is VERY tempting. Dual Core (Orion?), LTE, SAMOLED, and no locked bootloader afaik! I haven't had a Sammy in a while but the specs are sweet, and for those romming and rooting, touchwiz and upgrade release lags shouldn't come into play right?

Anybody else jumping ship? I think I might be...

I'm actually skeptical about the duel-core part. IF it is a duel core phone and has RAM above 512 I would really think of jumping ship.

As cool as that all sounds, Samsung has been horrible about getting their Galaxy S line updated to Froyo. My wife's Continuum is still stuck on 2.1 with no hope that it will get updated. I will stick with HTC or Motorola.

Agreed that they have HORRIBLE support, but I would be rooting mine asap and wouldn't rely on Samsung for any kind of support. (Although part of me wants to deny any sales to Samsung out of principle. I feel the same about Moto and their locked bootloaders)

Whether or not samsung is bad with updates their phones are usually top of the line I mean look at their galaxy s line and for all of you who live by quadrant and gaming the samsung phones excel in that area. Not to mention the beautiful super amoled screens.

There is STILL no fully working Froyo for the Fascinate. Leaks are buggy, and custom built versions are not done yet. The phone has been on the market for 6 months. All the ROM-ing and rooting in the world won't make something that doesn't exist appear.

Thats the fascinate. I mean this will be an LTE phone so I think samsung will support this phone a little better I mean the fascinate has bing which was for their low end smartphones so yeah. Not to mention samsung has amazing battery life and we can see HTC sucks with battery life and one of the supposed reasons why the thunderbolt still isnt released.

For fans of BMX, about an hour ago he tweeted:

"Samsung 4.3 superamoled+ #Winning"

Nothing like a little further ambiguity to keep the convo going while we wait for actual phones to appear! ;-)

if it comes out before this mythical TB, I am getting the Samsung...TB is not that much cooler or better then Samsung specs...and again it is just a phone..if it works and can get 4G I am good...and the screen should be amazing..just too many issues for TB for it to be a winner by a huge margin as it was a MONTH ago...

It doesnt really have any better specs than the samsung especially if the samsung has dual core like the article states. Not to mention it it supposed to launch with gingerbread where as the tb is said to get it "shortly after launch"

I'm a bit of a display tech geek. REALLY looking forward to seeing the new Super AMOLED PLUS. They got away from the pentile maxtix, hence the "PLUS". It has more subpixels now. Should be freekin beautiful.

It only has a single core processor, that is what they stated earlier this year and as far as we know it hasn't changed. Here Droid-life posted this earlier and I am more inclined to believe them.

It's a Phandroid reprint, btw.

This beast has been said to have the exynos 2-core for a while now.

I am not worried about updates. My next device will be on a one year deal even if I have to stick to the droid line up. If this phone beats the tb I will be very tempted.
