Has anyone contacted Samsung's Chat Support? If you have, has anyone found the Samsung Chat Support reps to be knowledgeable in even the simplest of questions?

I contacted them to try to find out how to access the 'clipboard" on my note. After about a half an hour of going back and forth, she insisted that it was not able to be accessed by the end user, but only by samsung. I insisted back that I have indeed seen the window come up with the "clipboard", but could not remember what i clicked on to get to it. She insisted i didn't. How friggin frustrating that was. ANYWAY, it's easy to find ( just like everything else) if you know where to click. SO, to answer your question. NO, not knowledgeable!.

You know the reason for me to have asked this question and posted the poll is because I have found the chat support team to really have been let down by Samsung due to lack of training on their products and it really makes the reps look like fools.

My issues was simple and you may have seen the question posted here, to which I eventually found on my own. I had first contacted Samsungs Chat request because something was screwy on my wifi router and the device name for the Note was showing up with oddly enough the same name as my printer, the only differences were the IP and the MAC addr's were different, obviously. The fact that the device name was messed up, I contacted Samsung chat support because I wanted to know if the network device name of the phone was specifically set to something, or if it was blank or 'null' which could explain why the router was displaying the last name of the device that connected to it. To my surprise the rep not only told me that the device name could not be changed, but he proceeded to tell me how a wifi network "works" and why the device name could not be possible! I quickly ended this conversation with a simple, "Dude are you serious? Can you please transfer this chat to a floor supervisor??" The rest shall we say is history. I figured out where to find it before the super got in the chat as I knew it had to be there somewhere.... and it is...
What's funny here is that since then anytime I connect with their chat support, or I am bored and I want to have some fun, I contact their support team and ask them this question. So far not one person has yet to actually answer the question correctly!!!! NOT ONE! LMAO!!! Now I'm not trying to pat myself on my back or anything, but I spent the last 12 years before I got sick working in Advanced Technical Support, Sr. Applications Support Engineer, Sr. Tier3 application support, and Sr. Systems Admin for our internet services with a multi media messaging, internet and telco technology. So I know right from the beginning before I contact them most of what I need to other then what and how Samsungs technology works.

Anyway, that was the reason for this poll! I just wanted to make sure I was not the only one who seems too talk to all the reps who haven't a clue. When I am chatting with them, I feel like Ashton Kutcher is going to jump out at me and yell that I've been Punked! LOL :)

I'm going to look for the option to change my device name. Then contact Samsung chat support at lunch and let you know how I get on.

I would really be interested too see how it goes for you. Between the supervisor and a couple of reps all told me that they would update their knowledge base. So far I have nothing to show they ever did, or their not reading it.. ;)

On the Note: Settings>Wireless & Network >WiFi-Direct Settings>Device Name

You may get 2 dialog boxes one to explain that you have to disconnect from your network first, and I can't recall the other one.

Good luck on your mission, I await your results. Lol

I actually could not find the chat support anywhere as a link from their main site this time round. Only Email, phone, post or FAQ.

I thought I had seen it but maybe not. Maybe it's not available in the UK.

OK, I never did find the chat but I recently sent them a query to some questions I have seen floating about here and that I am not 100% sure on. I thought "I know, I'll get a definitive answer". Yeah, right.

While waiting for the ICS update announced 12 days ago I have been exploring Kies. I have noticed that in Kies if I go to Tools -> Firmware upgrade settings then the Note is not displayed as a phone for which Kies should automatically download updates. I do have other android phones listed that I have plugged into the machine to check for updates for other members of staff in my office. Why does my phone not show here?

Also I can find no information in the Kies help or anywhere online as to what the Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation does or if it is actually needed. When I went to have a look it gave the message 'GT-N7000' does not support initialisation. Is this an error or just functionality not relevant to my phone?

Any information as to the questions above and to when ICS will eventually roll out in the UK so we don't feel rejected and alone would be great.
Their reply (after having read only the first sentence and copy/pasted a stock reply):

Samsung UK will confirm details regarding the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Galaxy Note in due course. Thank you for your patience.
