I totally hear where you're coming from. Don't get me wrong I wish I didn't have to go out and get a new phone to keep up with the times every three months.
While you can point fingers at Samsung, it seems all the phone companies are doing the same. The EVO was top of the line ground breaking just a couple of months ago, and HTC is starting to forget about it and push newer phones. And I would prefer HTC over Samsung any day, and unfortunately they are starting to push new products and let the older phones die out (Yes the myTouch3g got Froyo but that phone is so slow I'd rather be on 2.1 and have a 1ghz phone).
In my opinion the same practice does go on in the computer world, it's just less obvious in many cases since computers are extremely more powerful than phones and not very many people push their computers to the limits anyways. OS systems take longer to come out, but the hardware requirements for Vista was significantly higher than what was required by XP. I'm sure many had to upgrade on that one. Also if you go into gamers, they fight a constant battle of continuously upgrading components to keep up with the crazy standards some games require now-a-days (yes gaming is for fun, not essential like OS systems but still). Plus how long was Vista out, like a year before they pushed out Seven and made tons of people upgrade. A year is very short in terms of OS standards.
And as for Apple, their customer support seems better...but if you take a close look you know they are sandbagging their "new" products to force customers buy the new versions. Come on the iPhone 4 doesn't have 4G? You know they have one already done and ready to go, they just wanted to release it in a few months to get extra revenue. Not to mention the five billion versions of the iPods that come out within months of each other.
I know it sucks, but it's a common practice that every technology company does.
