Samsung will know if you root your Note II?

I was watching a video on benefits of root on the note 2 and the reviewer discussed how Samsung will know through some methods if you root your phone i wanted to know if this is true? he then said how they will refuse to abide by warranty if the device is rooted. I wanted to know if this is true and are their ways around it as i always root my devices lol.

I think the recent Samsung phones were installed with a flash counter. They can tell if you rooted or not through this counter. But there is a method that can reset the counter so Samsung won't know. XDA will have more info on this I believe.

Edit: The only time the counter won't trip is if you flash stock ROMs through ODIN or do official OTA/Kies updates. All other methods will trip it.

Rooting and flashing other ROMs to experiment with will trip the flash counter. So if you play with other ROMs you have to restore the original ROM as well as reset the flash counter.

You have to remember that rooting and installing custom ROMs void your warranty. Samsung implemented something that will inform them of this through the flash counter. There is a way to check your flash counter to see. But can't recall at the moment.

Rooted the day I got phone, Dec 1st. Have probably flashed well over 100 times, but I think, not positive, but chainfire made an app or tool called triangle away, that resets counter to 0.
