Root Sapphire question

I currently have sapphire 0.7.0 and want to install to the latest version. Is a backup and wipe necessary?

I'd back up just in case but a wipe isn't necessary.

official website does highly recommend a wipe. tho you probably could get by without it. Frankly I always wipe.
