Help sat nav

hi all.
is there a sat nav you can down load that does not upload the map as you go (like google does). ie is there a tom tom with full maps on your phone.

Not a TomTom but a Navigon with full maps on the SD card :)

And a CoPilot on my old HTC Desire with full maps too.

Uninstall the app and install it again.

I had Navigon installed (from the Market) on my Desire HD without any problems.

And after I get the HTC Sensation I could transfer the app to my new phone without costs.
I had also to download all the Navigon maps to the Sensation's SD card.

How far do you generally travel with it? Google maps lets you take a 10mile radius and cache it. So maybe cache your area or the area you travel too so when you get closer the sat nav will sort it out without a data connection.

There is an app out there however, i found on on XDA but i can't recall it. It wasn't the greatest but i think there is more then one on there. Can't give you the name though, sorry about that.

Although I've not tested it, Google Maps apparently doesn't need to stay online once a route has been planned. From the developers' website:
"Offline reliability Get continuous guidance and automatic rerouting, even if you lose your network connection after you’ve begun a route"

Of course you'd need a network connection if you wanted to plan a completely new route but, given that it's free, I guess that's a compromise many could live with.

I've had the phone lose network when using google nav and unfortunately it didn't do as its supposed to.

Isn't there an issue with navigon not allowing postcode support?? or maybe i'm mixing it up with another app.

you might wanna try sygic navigator it uses latest TT maps and graphics are great.

When you buy it you get a 25% discount voucher for another purchase to be used in a week i think and there is a site for people to share these for those not using them.
