Save Extra Battery by Manually Updating Apps

When you download apps from the market you will receive the option to allow apps to "automatically update" or perform "manual updates." If you have 5 apps that need to update themselves, once those 5 apps have a data connection those apps will automatically update themselves. Having 5 apps downloading at the same time will draw a little power off of your battery.

I do manual updates so my phone doesn't try to kill itself trying to update an app. If for some reason the update starts but you lose connection to a data source, the app will continue to try and update itself. Thus you are going to lose some battery power if you do not catch it.

Nobody reads this Android Lounge area. I post stuff to help out EVO 4G users in our forum for a reason. Nobody else will know what I am talking about since a lot of Android users still don't have Froyo yet. Come on mod...

Before we had Froyo, I remember having to do the updates manually. Meaning you had to check to see if their was an update for the app. With Froyo/the new market it came with an option for the app to update automatically by checking a box.

From my understanding, markets are specific to certain phones. Hence I'm talking about the HTC EVO 4G market. Hence this should have been posted in the applicable phone section.

I'm still using 2.1 on my phone and the auto updates work on mine. The market updated right around the time the 2.2 update was pushed from Sprint so people thought the two were one in the same. Not the case. Market got updated on its own.

the market is the same for all android devices, it just gets filtered for whatever device you're browsing it on.

the market may have been updated at the same time as the evo got froyo, but all devices have the option to update automatically now, so everybody can benefit from this

The market isn't the same for everyone, just talk to those who have Dell Streaks.
