Save money with Big Red! Unlimited Data Price Drop!

I have the Friends and Family plan-1400 mins-10 Rriends and Family -3 lines-one Droid, 2 non smart phones-unlimited txt

Would this plan be applicable to me??

I just called and worked like a charm, should end up saving about $60 a month. Extended my contract for 1 yr but really don't see myself going anywhere else anytime soon.

Probably NOT. It would require unlmited data plans (at $9.95 each) on ALL lines, so you'd likely end up paying $30 to save $20. Sounds like you're in the rare minority here, but if I woke up in your shoes I'd call anyway just to double-check the numbers.

So, we have a family plan. Primary line has no email / web / data pkg and SMS is turned off (My dumbphone alt for business use). Second line has data package and $5 / 250 SMS (my DROID). Additional line has Data package as well (Other half's BB)

Current plan:

$69.99 (-15 corp discount) = $59.49
$29.99
$29.99
$09.99
$05.00
______
$134.46

New plan: $129.99 for the Nationwide unlimited text and data plan for the Family Share, + $30 for unlimited data on 3 lines, + $19.99 for the additional line:

129.99 (-15% corp discount) = $110.49
$10.00
$10.00
$10.00
$19.99
_______
$160.48

Simply not worth it for me. If I had data on all three lines it would mean a huge savings - but with Google Voice I can get unlimited SMS and I can also save my minutes if I need to when making voice calls.

If you already have a fully loaded plan with all the bells and whistles then this might be advantageous for you - but in my case it most definitely is not advantageous.

lol yeah, well, it's all about the money *I* save, not whether I ma on the next best plan or not.

I would have been willing to pay up to $10 more to have the unlimited on all three - but $25 is just a bit too much.

I saved $49.97 on 4 lines
1 Droid, 1 Droid2, 1 DroidX, & an LG Versa
Had to "add" Unlimited Data to the dumb-phone to get the deal...
I'm a happy camper!

You're the man "The_Chief"! Was paying $120 for 900 minutes I never used, I just switched to this deal. Thanks man.

Once you activate your new phone you will not be re-enrolled in NE2. So this is your LAST upgrade until month 20 of a 2-year contract. That's how I'M reading it and why I will never do more than a 1-year contract again.

Damn, I'm at work and can't do this till tomorrow. I'm not entirely sure what the savings would be for me, though. Sounds a lot like the plan I have now, think that's the pricing (don't have the bill in front of me). I've got 3 smartphones and two dumbphones, everyone has unlimited text and we share 1400 mins, with unlimited mobile-to-mobile.

Now, the one thing that kills me is that with my 3 smartphones, none of them could be the primary number. So we have to have them as added lines at $10 each, PLUS the $30 data plans. Don't suppose anyone can dumb this new deal down for me until I can phone them tomorrow?

Oh, also, does this affect your current upgrade status? The two dumbphones are up for upgrade and being a Day One Droid owner, I'm looking forward to my 20 months coming not long after the Droid Bionic drops.

Anyway, thanks Chief, you the man.

@Yankke - here is the deal.

It costs $129.99 for the 1400 minutes. Each phone that gets unlimited data + unlimited text is $10. Each additional line is $19.99.

In your case, if all 5 phones have text and data, then that is $50 and the 3 additional lines is $59.97

$129.99
$50.00
$59.97
______
$239.96

If you get a corp discount (they're saying it is 15%) then it applies to the $129.99 only. That equates to $19.50 so your final price would be $220.46

If you're paying less than that it is simply not worth it.

The advertisement says that it is $139.99 for the family plan plus unlimited text and data, but the CSR on the phone told me that that is for a single phone, 2 lines - the second phone adds an additional $10, so if you only have the 2 phones it becomes $149.99

Also, even if you 'save' the money on the data plans, if you have additional lines, they've been bumped up from $9.99 per line to $19.99 per line, so that kinda offsets the data prices.

HTH

Just got hooked up on this deal with one call. The lady was reluctant because I didn't get the email nor had the promo codes, she said she would honor it anyways. HOWEVER she said I had to add another 2 YEARS to my contract! I went ahead and did it, since it is saving me about $50 a month.

Anyone else told they had to add another 2 years to their contract?

I'm going to call back, should I just immediately ask for a supervisor? What if they don't budge, should I revert back to what I had or keep it? I dont plan on switching carriers anytime soon, so... Not sure what to do.

Your contract term should be on MyVerizon. But the ad says ONE YEAR contract renewal required. I would throw a fit over 2 years, regardless of whether I'm considering switching carriers or not. Just my 0.02

Well I just found it, it says contract end date 05/21/12. My account already shows that the plan was changed, so theoretically the contract end date should have changed too? Maybe she was lying to me in hopes that I would refuse, and not change my plan.

edit: 5/21/12 is my original contract end date.

thanks for the heads up on this!!

saved 23 dollars a month on my 3 lines, and my contract only extended 4 days on one of the lines.
