Root Save more battery/data speed - Droidwall Firewall

So i have a ton of apps that like to access data, and kill my speed when tethering and while trying to figure out an answer to this I came across Droidwall Firewall.

Basically I will cut right to the point. I only allow access to WiFi Tether and leave it on unless I need to use another app with data. Not only did it increase my tethering speed but I noticed this morning that it was saving me a lot of battery as well.

It is a nice alternative to JuiceDefender because I used it for a long time and it was too much of a hassel/didn't save that much so it wasn't worth it to me. Droidwall even has a nice widget to enable/disable.

For anyone that wants email/facebook etc. To still update make sure to allow those access as well.

I hope you have as much success as I do with this, Enjoy!

I don’t tether and I use JuiceDefender Ultimate, but I’m willing to try it out. The settings from what I can make out are pretty straight forward and I’m thinking if I block certain apps from accessing the internet I might save some battery life. Thanks!

Juice Defender is awesome! No need to get the paid version. The free version saves a lot of battery while the phone is in stand by, and all you gotta do is enable it, where's the hassle in that? It comes with a widget too. Nevertheless, I will try DroidWall for tethering speed and battery, since when tethering you must disable Juice Defender or else it will block all data as soon as the phone goes on standby thus disabling tethering.

EDIT:
Awesome avatar lol

I much prefer a simple widget on my home screen right next to my tethering widget to enable/disable mobile data to Juice Defender. Again, this was just my personal opinion.
