Help Saved images don't appear in Gallery

Hi everyone,
I've just bought my first android phone and am really enjoying it, however I've become really stuck on one issue and can't find any resolves on the internet. Whenever i hold down on a picture from the internet (I've used both the internet app and firefox app), and click "save image", the image doesn't appear in my gallery or anywhere else I can find on the phone. I'm really stuck as my friends Galaxy automatically saves the images to his gallery. If anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it.

Mine comes up in a folder in the gallery called "download"

You can also see them by going into your web browser's downloads section.

I know, I was just saying how my phone behaves (with both the default browser and Dolphin HD, might I add). I also mentioned the images can be found in the browser's download section

Images won't show up in Gallery until they;re picked up my a new media scan. I'm not sure if one is triggered automatically by an image d/l but checking the download folder at least confirms that they've saved.

The key to successful troubleshooting is to look at one thing at a time, rule it out and move on to the next.
