Help Saving a contact to a "group"

I have my contacts all set up in different groups, yet when i add a contact on my tablet I don't have the option of saving the contact to one of my groups. of course the user guide says you CAN do this, which only makes sense since I can on my phone and PC.
I have a verizon galaxy tab and sync my contacts to outlook with an exchange account (in outlook the groups translate into categories).

If I recall, once you create it, long-press on the contact and it should give you the option.
