saving media from message

When I save a picture/video from a text message it gets saved to the message folder on my internal memory, how do I change this to save it to my microSD card instead?

your device should be saving it to your sdcard memory, how positive are you that it is saving it to the internal memory?

from my experience with moto products and the blur, everything downloaded is saved to Downloads.

can you clarify where it is actually saving?

if I go into storage it is under internal memory>messaging folder. I tried moving the messaging folder to the sd card but it just created a new one on the internal memory when I tried to download a new picture. I have already set up saving pictures from my camera to the sd card, but I don't see any options anywhere about the download location

also when I download a pdf from chrome it was saved to the internal memory. This was before I had installed and sd card however.

I grabbed the user manual for the M and found this under memory card

MEMORY CARD

Note: Your photos, videos, and other files are
automatically stored in internal memory on your
smartphone. You can set individual applications (camera,
camcorder, etc.) to store files on the microSD card.

This is essentially what is happening for me, I very easily told my camera to save images/video to the sd card, however the messaging app doesn't provide an option to auto save to the sd card instead of internal memory. Its fairly annoying to have to download an image from text then navigate over to internal memory and manually move it to the sd card, is there anyway around this?

go into settings and select storage. Under the internal storage area you wuill see a section "manage internal storage". Select it and it will show the items that can be moved. All downloads should be there.

I see where that option was removed in the upgrade. Odd. It looks like it can be done in the files app. but I am going to have to spend some time with it.

This worked.

Go to the app "files" and navigate to the SD card. Add a folder called Downloads.

Now go to the App "Quick Office" which came with the phone. On the main page you will see a "browse" icon. Tap it.
Select internal storage.
Open the folder "Download."
Put a check mark on the items you want to move.
Tap the copy icon on the bottom of the screen.
Hit back button until you get to the screen to select the drive.
Select SD Card.
Put a check mark on the folder Downloads(the one you created in step 1.
Tap the paste icon on the bottom of the screen.
Go back to the internal folder and delete the original download items once you verify the copy paste worked OK.

I guess once a month or so you can do this. It sounds like a lot of steps but it goes quick. Still surprised the functionallity was removed in JB. Was so much easier in ICS.

Thanks for the tip. I have been doing something similar to that using just the file app included, copy and move folder contents over to sd card. Sucks that there is an option for external sd card but seemingly bad software support for it.
