Root Sbf

so i finally got my phone stuck at the M. i must have rushed a little too much flashing a rom (something i've done many a time now) and i need to flash the sbf. i know there is info here on it and i have the 2.1 file. but i'm having trouble. i'm very much a noob at using linux and have done nothing in depth with it yet. if anyone can help me and keep lecturing to a minimum until i get my phone up and running it would really be appreciated

To get into bootloader restart your phone, and hold camera and volume down buttons at same time

i am downloading the sbf now. and have that website. i can get my phone into the bootloader. i'll update once the sbf finishes downloading. i thought i had already downloaded it but it was just the sbf flash file. i dont use rsd for linux do i?

If you have Clockwork Recovery installed, try this:

Turn off your phone, plug your usb cable into your phone and see if it boots into CW Recovery. No need to press the any buttons, just wait for it. Works for me every time.

No such file or directory when i type in cd Downloads. should my terminal window have "myname@myname-desktop:" in the first line when i open it up?

yeah i tried that, it wouldn't boot into recovery. it normally does. but not this time. what happened was i flashed focused 1.0. no problems there. then i put one of the focused themes on it. no problems there. but my facebook wouldnt let me add an account. i had the same problem with fission so i tried to do a data reset. that worked. then when it got to the activating screen where you tap the droid, it wouldn't do anything when i tapped it. i thought crap. so i rebooted a couple times to no avail. then i decided to restore a backup which worked. but my radio wasn't working (no data, txts, calls) and so i figured i would just flash one of the roms on my sd card and i must have made a mistake after the frustrations i kept encountering. so here i am now.
