when you install the rom, it deposits PH98IMG onto the sd card,containing the boot image,wich contains the kernel. in amons developer menu,you will find an option to "reboot to bootloader". select that option. you will be taken to fastboot,where you will select "bootloader" with the phones vol rocker and power button. this will take you to hboot. once there,hboot will find the PH98IMG,and ask you if you wish to update it. select yes. you should then see something similar to your post above- that actually what the "error message" you described was doing. it was installing a boot image,that contained a kernel.
if this is the only rom youve tried to install,you may have allready installed the kernel above
dont forget,you will need to install the "old firmware" patch since youre still on gingerbread firmware
