Scratch Test

Dude you are brave. I use a xoskin on my stuff in case a tiny piece of sand or something like that hits it. That glass is strong, but it doesnt stop everything.

I think it looks awesome. I can't wait to get mine. Wish I was in the UK right now...

How does sand scratch it if a key wont?

Sand is harder than many metals, certainly harder than many common metals. Keys are often made of brass or nickel, which score between 4 and 5 on the Mohs hardness scale. Steel is slightly harder but most steels you keep in your pocket (on keychains, anyway) are not hardened, so they actually score around the same.

Quartz, which most sand is comprised of, scores a 7.

I've often cautioned people who look at these key scratch tests and then assume they don't need a screen protector, that some of the items you have in your pocket are significantly harder than the keys used in these tests. Pocket knives are comprised of hardened alloys, tools like small screwdrivers are often hardened steel, and, of course, sand is the real killer because it's super hard, difficult to see or feel, and is pretty much everywhere.
