Scratched screen - help needed! :(

I have scratched my screen just with my nails and its bugging me like hell. A post in some website forum suggests to use "3M Perfect-it 3000 Trizact" spot finishing material which is so effective in removing the scratches. As tempting as it sounds, its also so difficult to ship the bottle internationally. Is that true? Just because its an hazardous chemical (and hell, its costly!) they would not let you carry it on a plane? If shipping is off the table, can someone suggest me an alternative/substitute for the chemical I can easily set my hands on in India? That 1 and half inch scratch is sooo bugging me! :(

How did you scratch Gorilla Glass with your nails? Are you Wolverine? Lol. But seriously, I don't know what would work for removing the scratch. You would basically be polishing the scratch out, which is like micro sanding. If there is any coating on the glass you would be removing that as well. It seems like there is more potential for making things worse by attempting this.

Are you sure there isn't a screen protector on the phone? I could see that getting scratched a lot easier than Gorilla Glass.

FYI, Gorilla glass can be scratched! the fact about that perfect-it polishing material is that it contains the same compound as that is covering your screen (alkali-aluminosilicate is gorilla glass and that perfect-it solution contains some form of aluminium oxide and aluminosilicate).. if you know any substitutes for this compound, tell me. Will they allow you to ship that solution out of the US? :(

Yes, it can be scratched, but not by a fingernail. Maybe if you carry the phone in a pocket with your keys or something, but regardless of how it got scratched, I have been reading these forums for over a year and have never heard about this miracle scratch remover. All I can say is use at your own risk. Maybe somebody else will have some experience with this who can comment. Best of luck!

I know that its because of my fingernail because the scratch is in the same shape as the pattern lock I used. Google it. You'll know.

The probability is that the scratch was caused by something on a finger, such as a sand grain or grit particle, rather than your fingernail. Human nails are softer than even ordinary untreated glass so they can't scratch by themselves.

To remove, try obtaining jeweler's rouge from a watch repairer as that is commonly used to polish out scratches in watch glasses. A car paintwork restorer such as "T-Cut", applied with a clean microfibre cloth, may also work as it's a similarly mild abrasive. If all else fails, ordinary toothpaste can be tried too. It's even milder than the previous two so a lot of elbow-grease may be needed!

How could a toothpaste remove a scratch?? (I have to accept that the scratch am talking about is very thin but loooong) anyways, the "t cut" you are talking about, is that a brand name?? and thanks for replying.. i guess any one of them would work.. 3M Perfect-it solution is somewhat costly and difficult to set hands on in India.

I would be more than thankful if you can get me the composition details of T cut glass polisher.. because i'm waiting to buy 3M perfect-it solution is that its composition is same as the coating covering the gorilla glass (alkali-aluminosilicate)..
