Screen Breaking / Cracking Issue

Searched the forum and web and couldn't find any info, but do the Optimus Elites have delicate screens?

Bought both kids an Elite to replace their Vs, and within a month both Elite screens were broken. They both had their Vs for about a year without any damage or issues, so it makes me wonder if there's an on-going issue with the quality of the screens in the Elites, or if it's just a coincidence that both screens cracked within the same period.

My wife dropped hers in the driveway and it cracked vertically down the middle. It still works fine though.

my elite was pretty tough in this regard. i dropped it several times and the glass never even scratched. but i would imagine if you were to put weight down on the face by accidentally sitting on it or something like that i could see it giving on you.

There are always cases that prevent breaking the screens. My favourites are OtterBox and this, which in itself is nearly an OtterBox.

As for the quality of the screen itself, it is actually pretty good. See Curtis' sentiments above.

Woo ballistic.. That's my case :D

The V had a plastic screen. They scratch easier, but are nearly impossible to "crack" unless the screen actually falls on a corner of something. The "shock" of a fall, like on the corner or something won't do anything. Glass screens on the other hand (like the elite have) will crack a lot easier if dropped even if the point of impact isn't the screen itself but a corner. Glass looks better, has better response, and doesn't scratch nearly as much. However, glass cracks. Look into buying cases
