Screen brightness settings that work for you?

I've noticed that far and away my worst battery hog is the display. I've been using the auto-dim setting, assuming it would let me have a bright display when necessary but save battery when possible. That doesn't seem to be the case.

Anyone having luck with good battery life and auto-dim? Or is everyone setting it very low manually? Are there good applications that may help manage the brightness intelligently?

Thanks!

I wouldn't suggest automatic brightness because it is always changing your brightness depending on the lighting conditions of where you are. So just the constant changing of brightness is eating battery.

I would recommend just finding a brightness that you are comfortable with and just keep it there. I currently find that 30% works for me.

Ya I'm at like 10-15 and not sure if the extra % down from 30 make a difference. The display is noticeably brigheter at 30 vs 15 however.

I use Power Control Plus app to create a power widget and have the brightness set to toggle between 5% - 20% - 50% - 100%. I find 20% is good for 90% of the time I'm on the phone. If I'm out in the sun or something, 100% is bright as heck but reduce to 20 again inside or at night. Autobrightness kills the battery.

I like 30% brightness, but it absolutely sucks once you're outside under the sunlight. It's basically unusable. You're looking at your own reflection or the reflection of the random surroundings and it makes you look like a loser holding a big ass expensive phone and not able to see what's on that 4.3" screen. I switch it back to full brightness once outside, or sadly don't try to use it.

I'm on 25%. I found that thirty offered a plenty bright enough screen for inside, and I could not tell a difference between 25 and 30.
