screen brightness settings used?

As I patiently wait for my Verizon GN2, I wonder how you guys are setting up the screen brightness on your phones. Are you using the auto setting? If so, how well does it work? (On my Bionic, I use a Profiles app and usually have it turned down to about 25% to save battery, and then quickly change it up or down when I'm outside or in the dark, respectively). It would be great if I didn't have to do that with this new phone.... :)

I used the Auto setting for a while, but it is kind of annoying. If I am close to the light source indoor and if I just angled slight on the device and it will dim and light up and dim and light up... I finally just decided to turn off Auto and set screen to about 40%. When I am outside and have to use the phone for more than a few sec.. I just hit the Auto check mark. And turn it off next time when I am indoor.. it remembers my setting of 40%.

I have mine on max brightness (no auto) during the day time. That's the way I've always had it with other phones as well. When it's night time though, I'll turn the auto brightness on so when I check my emails in the morning, I'm not blinded by 5.5 inches of sheer awesomeness ;)

The auto brightness was too dim for me. We have big beautiful non-pentile screens...... show them off! I keep mine around 60%-70% bright during the day (looks gorgeous). Late at night with no lights on I knock it down to about 30%.
I am getting excellent battery life. You won't have to compromise with screen brightness to get a full day out of it.

How much battery do you have at the end of the day? I don't want to compromise either, but I can only get about 12 hours of heavy use.

Auto brigtness is too dim for me too.

Is there any way to calibrate it?

I don't know of a way to calibrate it, but I find using just two settings (70%-ish for day and 30%-ish for night) works well. Since you can get to the brightness right there in notifications (swiping down from the top of the screen), it is very easy and quick to change the brightness to exactly what you want.

Yes it is easy to manually adjust.

I have my display mode on "Natural", and only take it above this level when outside on the bike:

100% brightness 100% of the time!

It wouldn't be an option if we aren't supposed to use it right! :thrasher:
