Screen colour variation

I have a UK S3 from the launch day and on a white background my screen has always been banded - white pink at the top and bottom and a yellowish creamy colour in the middle. Thought it was just the way it was or that it would settle in. It hasn't and a friend who has just got one has no such issues. VF in the UK want to do a repair but I'm not keen to send it away. Anyone else have this?

thats a faulty screen, you have to send it for repair or get a replacement

Hmmmm. That's what I'm afraid of. I'll send it away and get it back worse than it went. Might just live with it. It's not bad. Just annoying using email and Kindle.

dont live with it, the phone cost a fortune. they cant give it back to you worse than it came as its part of warranty. if you contact samsung directly they would say the same.

get it sent off and stop being silly

Yeah you're right. Not sure if I'm being OCD or not though. But thanks!
you shouldnt see any pink on white backgrounds
this used to be the case with some amoled screens back the the galaxy S and the original desire (early models)
but they never had banding.

this is a defect rather than a tinge. no OCD about it.

im being ocd with the dist on the edge of the glass but you are not lol

get it sorted and get the device you deserve

though it is under warranty, it is possible that it comes back worse than it went...

Yeah I agree. That's my fear. And it's a variation rather than banding I guess. I've seen this in iPads too. It looks like uneven back lighting but I know this isn't possible as the S3 isn't backlit. I have a Note as well and it's fine but dimmer. A lot.

the point im making is that is if it comes back worse you send it back again.
you dont let them get away with sending you a shoddy product that costs just under

Yeah you're no doubt right. Just can't be bothered with the inevitable fight. The phone was a free upgrade so didn't cost me anything. Normal people probably wouldn't bother about it!

it does cost you though as it your contract is paying for it.
when you come to sell it youll regret not doing it

I would. I spotted a single dead pixel and got my phone replaced. Once you notice a defect it won't go away. Two years' contract with an unnecessary annoyance. Not worth it. change it out.
