Help Screen Dims in Navigation?

I used navigation for the first time on my D3 today, only to find out that the screen dims after a moment of inactivity! I had to continuously touch the screen to make the backlight stay on and bright, which is not the ideal way to use navigation!

Anyone else have this problem and/or a fix?

I use Navigation a fair amount on my Droid X, but the other day it did the same thing. Even when I set the phone to full brightness. I have no idea what the issue is, but it is pretty annoying.

I never had any problems like this when I was using my LG Ally, nor the Droid X2 I had for a week and half before the Droid 3.

The latest version of Google Maps introduced this auto-dim "feature". Nothing wrong with your phone, and it's not a Maps bug. Sadly, there is no option to disable this behavior.

Ahh, well that answers it I suppose.
Still a horrible idea... I couldn't see my screen at all once it dimmed, which made me have to take my hand off the wheel and concentration off the road to fix it. Sure, it was only for a second or two, but that second or two could lead to bad things.
