Screen Dims when I wake up phone? Why?

Hey all,

Love my S3 and have had no issues with it except this recent one with my screen. If phone is off for a while and then I hit the power button to wake up, it wakes up but the screen I is dim. If I continue playing with phone is stays dim. If I press power button again to turn it off and then wake it, it's back to normal brightness.

Help.

This happens to me occasionally as well. I've found if you just move the brightness slider a bit it will go back to normal. I imagine it's a software problem if it's fixed like that. Perhaps it will be fixed in the future.

I've noticed this as well,going back to ICS 4.0.4/JB 4.1.1 & it still persists on my phone,currently running JB 4.1.2.It's almost as if the dimming is bass-ackwards,it dims when I actually need it brighter & vice-versa.

Not all the time,but,it does occur on an almost daily basis.Same fix,just moving the slider does the trick
 
This drives me absolutely nuts. It usually occurs while I am driving and my phone goes to sleep, requires me to find the slider, etc. I have built a tasker profile that most of the time "fixes" it- Display On-> Auto Brightness: On, Wait 2 seconds, Auto Brightness: Off, Display Brightness: 255. I am not sure why it works but it seems to and other things I have tried don't :-( If anyone can figure this out, I would love to know what's actually going on here. I keep thinking it is something I have installed, or my launcher (Nova). Or the ROM I am on, but it persists across ROMs and versions.
