Help Screen Goes Dim in Bright Light

I searched for other posts on this, but didn't see one.

When I unlock my phone, the screen brightness will be high, and then it adjusts to correspond to whatever the room brightness is. When I am in bright light outside, it will go dim a few seconds after getting unlocked. Its really frustrating. I can't see the screen.

I have the screen brightness set to automatic. Is there something else I need to change?

Thanks for being unhelpful. If I manually adjust the screen, then it will be too dim when I'm outside and too bright when I'm inside. I'll constantly be fooling with it. The point is, it should work correctly to begin with.

You're welcome.... Proof is in the pudding. You leave it on auto, it changes on it's own. Set it yourself it stays.

My solution was to use a brightness toggle on my homescreen.. fast switching.

That seems to be the best option to me. I don't think there is any simple way to change the automatic brightness settings, or at least I've never heard of it.
